Skeletons in the closet

The Ghostwriter: A Novel by Julie Clark

August 19, 2025 by ElCicco Leave a Comment

Cbr17bingo G (bingo) The Ghostwriter is a crime/unsolved murder novel that revolves around a father and daughter who are estranged from one another. Their relationship has been damaged by substance abuse, lies and secrets but an unusual set of circumstances reunites them. Will this be an opportunity to mend fences and resolve a sensational double murder? Or will it lead to charges against dear old dad? In June 1975, the bodies of teenaged siblings Poppy and Danny Taylor were discovered stabbed to death in their […]

Time to Ketchup

Black Cherry Blues by James Lee Burke

Last Call: A True Story of Love, Lust, and Murder in Queer New York by Elon Green

The Revelators by Ace Atkins

The Last Flight by Julie Clark

March 27, 2021 by Jake Leave a Comment

Because I read two behemoth 660+ page books back-to-back, I went on a little reading binge this week to “ketchup.” I liked most of these, two more so than the two others. Black Cherry Blues *** I want to go through the David Robicheaux series for two reasons: 1. I love Louisiana and 2. I want to see how Burke develops this story. After enjoying Heaven’s Prisoners, I found this a step back for multiple reasons… 1. Burke pads an already thin story with a lot […]

The Last Flight- A bit flighty but fun (horrible pun but I’m standing by it)

The Last Flight by Julie Clark

In earlier reviews I warned you I am a domestic thriller junkie. So now you get to hear about The Last Flight. An abused wife fleeing her husband trades tickets with a stranger also fleeing her old life on a whim. The abused wife then watches with horror as the plane she was supposed to be on is reported crashed, with no survivors. She decides to step into the other woman’s life at the other end of the swapped flight and finds more then she […]

Two women, one plane crash.

The Last Flight by Julie Clark

January 18, 2021 by narfna 2 Comments

Two women meet by chance in an airport, both on the run from their former lives, and decide to swap identities and plane tickets in order to further obscure their trails. One plane crashes and the other doesn’t. This book examines both the fallout from the crash in Claire’s POV (the wife of the famous son of a famous politician, who is fleeing an abusive marriage to said famous son) and the six month lead-up to the crash in Eva’s POV (I won’t spoil what […]

CBR12 Book Bingo – Red

The Last Flight by Julie Clark

July 18, 2020 by randirock Leave a Comment

The Last Flight is a deliciously suspenseful thriller that kept me on the toes from start to finish. I didn’t want to put it down. My only complaint is that the ending felt abrupt. The action was starting to get really intense when the last chapter swiftly stepped in to wrap up the book. It’s not that I felt the ending was bad, I just think it could have been drawn out a little bit more. Or perhaps I simply didn’t want the book to […]
