Don’t read this book unless you can commit to it.

May 20, 2018 by KB Leave a Comment

This book is part of the Harry Hole series and follows on from The Snowman. For anyone interested in reading any of Jo’s books, it is not necessary to read them in order. I have been reading them as I find them – in no particular order, and have been able to follow the story with no issues. A vast majority of each book focuses on the current mystery/murder. Part of it relates to Harry’s personal life – but there is enough back story and […]

Ramblings of a Jo Nesbo fan.

March 19, 2018 by KB Leave a Comment

Yes I still love Jo Nesbo, and yes, I will continue to read his books until he begins to disappoint. However that has not happened yet!! I have happened upon a Jo Nesbo series that does not involve Harry Hole. Gasp! I spent a long time in these books waiting for everything to go wrong and murders to be committed etc (just like the Harry Hole books), but this series is definitely not the same. Yes it has the same stylings of Jo’s writing, his […]

Jo Nesbo does it again!!

February 10, 2018 by KB Leave a Comment

Jo Nesbo is fast becoming one of my favourite authors of all time. I absolutely love his ability to create a suspense mystery that always includes nice and neat twists. Nothing ridiculously out there (which often spoils a good thriller) but always surprising. The Thirst was definitely filled with little twists and turns, with a fairly gruesome murderer on the loose. Again, Harry Hole is the main detective on the case (called back from retirement to help out). And with each new Harry Hole novel, […]

Robbing banks with a twist

January 16, 2018 by KB Leave a Comment

Having just read “The Snowman” I was excited and impatient to read more of Jo Nesbo’s books.  There are many great things about this book, but unfortunately a few things that were a little disappointing. Firstly, the characters as always are great. I absolutely love Harry Hole (the main character) and have become quite defensive of him. Automatically disliking any character that does not treat him with respect. As well as being pleased by any character that does respect him and admires him. But I […]

I’ll never look at a snowman the same way again!

January 8, 2018 by KB Leave a Comment

Wow! I have just read “The Snowman” by Jo Nesbo and what a read it was! I basically read the whole thing in one night because I could not put the book down. It took me a little bit of time to get into the book, as it required some concentration at the start with the Norwegian names and a variety of characters. However I quickly got my head around that and enjoyed the thrill of the ride. Firstly, I loved the characters. Harry Hole […]

Some books I heard while reading the new Brandon Sanderson

November 27, 2017 by vel veeter Leave a Comment

Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee – 5/5 stars So somehow, Trump ruined this day of all days with his racist remark to Navajo Codetalkers at a White House ceremony. This is also the day I finished this book….it’s like I made it happen by being so clearly reminded of the inhumanity of US history and the sheer resilience and patience with which Native peoples have had to ask for not only basic decency, but for agreements they made to be upheld. And so the […]
