My husband is a big fan of stand up comedy. We’ve seen a lot of Netflix and HBO specials together- including the Jim Gaffigan special that introduced the world to “Hot Pooockets.” I knew Jim Gaffigan had a big family because he is currently capitalizing on it; between his Chrysler commercials and his semi-autobiographical TVland series it’s hard to miss. While Gaffigan has always been successful it’s clear his kids’ antics are helping write their future college tuition checks. “Raising kids may be a thankless […]
Hot Pockets 2: The Hot-Pocketing
There are few things Americans like to do more than eat. No one knows that better than comedian Jim Gaffigan. He has made a career celebrating and poking fun at our national obsession. In his new book, Food: A love Story, Gaffigan collects many of his stand up bits and expands on them, adds more, and delivers a consistently amusing, wry, and laugh out loud funny book. I Really Wanted to Like This (Part Two)
I like Jim Gaffigan. I think he’s funny, his episodes of the Nerdist podcast are fantastic. People I admire on Twitter were raving about this book, which I took as a good sign. I also like food. I love reading cook books, cooking, going out to eat, reading about chefs….I’m not calling myself a foodie, but I do enjoy it. You’d think this would be a natural fit! You’d also be wrong.
The new king of the dads has risen.
My daughter can’t even read and she loves this book. She says it’s about mommies, which is amazingly on point, since I haven’t read any of it to her. I also feel I should point out that the color scheme is the same as my old Livejournal.
I Love Food Too
I reviewed the audiobook version of Mr. Gaffigan’s Dad is Fat for Cannonball Read 5. He’s back with a new book, which I only discovered because of its prominent display at the bookstore, and the cover. The cover is clever – a cake topper version of Mr. Gaffigan next to a cake topper version of a hot dog, on top of a fancy wedding cake. The book behind the cover is a nice, light, entertaining read. It’s a bit of a mishmash, with everything connected […]
