Early Jill Mansell Re-Release….Not my Cup of Tea

Kiss by Jill Mansell

May 24, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

I received this book for free via NetGalley. This did not affect my rating or review. This book will be released on August 1, 2019.  So this book was published in 1993, and boy does it show. I think a few times Mansell probably went through and tried to update (she brings up Harry Styles at one point) but other dated references are still here (a new release of an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie). I could have overlooked that if the story had been good. Too […]

Five Stars, But Not a Favorite

Maybe This Time by Jill Mansell

March 29, 2019 by Classic 2 Comments

Please note that I received this book via NetGalley. This did not affect my rating or review. This book will be released on June 4, 2019.  So though I really enjoyed this book, the main reason why I didn’t give it a favorite designation was honestly because I thought that Mansell should have Mimi with someone else that was introduced in the book. I thought all of the story-lines were very good and that Mansell did a good job of showcasing all of the stories […]

Enjoyable Contemporary Romance

Meet Me at Beachcomber Bay by Jill Mansell

January 30, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

I have to say that I really enjoyed this book. At first I hard cringed when I started reading and the premise was that one woman (Clem) had a meet-cute with a man who has now come back to her life in a surprising way. This leads Clem to faking a relationship with her best friend Ronan who has his own reasons for agreeing to go along with things. Clem’s stepsister, Belle, doesn’t know what is going on with Clem, but the two of them […]

Good at Games

March 8, 2017 by Classic Leave a Comment

I will have to come back and think of a pithy title for this review some other time. For now, I am just going to go with the title of the book. I honestly don’t have much to say about this book besides finding it boring as sin and also very rage inducing at times. I do love my romance reads, but from the beginning I found the whole premise of this book a bit hard to take. It made me think of a grown […]

Chick Lit + Sadness = Really Works

February 21, 2017 by Classic 2 Comments

Well this is the first Mansell book I have loved. I think the reason why though is that we follow three separate couples/groups and then we get to see how in the world they all connect up with each other at the end. I maybe cried a bit too when I got to certain parts. I will say that I didn’t buy the character of Flo getting along with her boyfriend’s sister towards the end of the book. She (Lena) I found to be terrible. […]
