“Death is boring. Life is much more fun. Things happen in life all the time. Unexpected things.” (Quintuple Bingo)

Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend

November 8, 2025 by Malin Leave a Comment

4.5 stars Nowhere Bingo 25: A middle-grade book CBR17 Bingo: N (a book starting with the letter N) Morrigan Crow is a cursed child, born on Eventide (think New Year’s Eve, but unlucky) and as such, is due to die at midnight on her 11th birthday. She keeps being blamed for everything bad that happens in her surroundings and spends a lot of time writing apology notes. However, before she can meet her doom, a mysterious stranger called Jupiter North appears and takes her away, […]

A few years ago, I reviewed the first one of this trilogy (Nevermore), but I never got around to reviewing the rest. Since I reread them recently, just for fun, I decided that now was as good a time as any to review them. *SPOILERS FOR NEVERMORE* Morrigan Crow has defeated her curse and become a member of the Wundrous Society. However, while she is hoping for an education with imagination, discovery, wunder, and learning about her powers, she just gets taught about how horrible […]

“‘And whatever you do, don’t close your eyes.’ ‘What happens if I close my eyes?’ ‘You miss the fun.'”

Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow (Nevermoor, #1) by Jessica Townsend

30 Books in 30 Days, Vol. 3 Book 17/30 I don’t read a lot of middle grade anymore, but when I do, this is exactly what I want. What a magical good time. The combo of whimsical worldbuilding, magical trials, friendship and found family, secrets, and darker elements that many people would say don’t belong in children’s books makes for something rather intoxicating (I’ve never yet read a favorite children’s book without those darker elements btw). I’ve seen a lot of people talking about the […]

Wunder-full Book

Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend

March 26, 2022 by Bibliophile 5 Comments

The Nevermoor series by Jessica Townsend has been one of my favorites since I listened to the 1st book as an audiobook in a long car ride with my family a few years ago. The Nevermoor series is currently 3 books, soon to be 4 in October 2022, but is probably going to end up as 6 to 9 books. This is a fantasy, adventure, and mystery series great for 9+ readers. The first book, and the best, in my opinion, is Nevermoor: The Trials […]

What if you could blame everything bad on someone else?

Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend

October 31, 2021 by crystalclear Leave a Comment

Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow By Jessica Townsend   Morrigan Crow has the dubious distinction of being a Cursed Child (no, not the same one from the play.)  When a child is born on Eventide, they are said to be cursed, and are doomed to die on their eleventh birthday.  Everything bad that happens, be it a lost spelling bee or a spoiled batch of marmalade, is blamed on the local cursed child.  Morrigan’s father, a government official, sits down periodically with her and […]
