Batman The Long Halloween: the Prequel Haunted Knight by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale

September 23, 2025 by ElCicco Leave a Comment

I happened to see this at our local library as part of a Halloween Readings display. A long long time ago, I read a whole lotta Batman, including Loeb’s Hush, which I recall thinking was very good. Hush was drawn by the brilliant Jim Lee, which made the reading all the more interesting. There was a time when I read DC graphic novels regularly, but I got kind of tired of it and found other reading more to my liking. While this “prequel” to The […]

Meow.

I was a boy when Batman Returns was released in theaters, and I remember Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman making a very big impression on my young psyche. She (Pfieffer/Catwoman) is one of my icons of growing up. The Catwoman character’s grey status in the DC-verse has always interested me. Sometimes she’s good, sometimes she’s not. Maybe she’s both. Maybe she’s playing some other game entirely. All I know is that Catwoman is attractive – every meaning of the word applies.  This particular story takes place concurrently […]

The Answer Is In Plain Sight

September 2, 2017 by Emmalita 3 Comments

Right before I read Hush, I read a mystery that was not afraid of the female gaze. There was a fair amount of commenting on men’s thighs. I was primed to notice the musculature of Batman’s thighs. Those are some powerful thighs. Batman has always been a television or movie character to me. I grew up on Adam West’s Batman. I have watched every live action Batman film and many of the animated movies. I love Batman: The Animated Series. I haven’t been a Batman […]

Powerful Batman story comes to a haunting conclusion

December 22, 2015 by TylerDFC Leave a Comment

Fresh off his trip to Metropolis in Volume 1, Batman has returned to Gotham determined to find answers. Someone is manipulating his old foes, and possibly his friends, like pieces on a chess board and Batman is determined to find out who. While Bruce, Selina, and renowned surgeon – and childhood friend – Tommy Elliot are attending an opera, Harley Quinn and her cohorts attack forcing Batman in to action. In the resulting chaos, Tommy is killed and Batman comes within a hair of choking […]

“Hush little baby, don’t say a word…”

December 22, 2015 by TylerDFC Leave a Comment

After rescuing a kidnapped child from the monstrous Killer Croc, Batman goes in pursuit of Catwoman after she nabbed the pay off money. High above the rooftops, someone cuts Batman’s grappling rope. He breaks his fall – and shoulder – clutching on to a gargoyle before plummeting to the ground in a dank alley. Barely conscious and powerless to help himself, his suit is able to repel a menacing group of thugs long enough for Huntress to arrive and get Bruce to safety. All the […]
