Scheming to the Finish Line

Crush the King by Jennifer Estep

January 22, 2024 by Pooja Leave a Comment

Evie’s been queen of Bellona for a year. While she’s survived plenty of sinister plots and assassination attempts, she knows that her position will never be secure until she can defeat the threat of Morta once and for all – and the Regalia Games seem to be the perfect time for that. This is the final book in the Crown of Shards trilogy. While I loved the first book, I found the second rather disappointing, so I was hoping that the author would be able […]

Only Bad Options by Jennifer Estep

November 10, 2022 by llamareadsbooks 1 Comment

CBR14Bingo – New: Though Jennifer Estep’s had a long and prolific writing career, this is the first book of hers that I’ve read. This popped up as a recommendation for me several times on Facebook and Amazon (apparently our AI overlords know that I love sci-fi romance!). So when I saw it was finally released, I couldn’t resist picking it up. While it’s overall a very enjoyable first addition to the series, there were also several things that didn’t quite work for me. Vesper works […]

Sequel-itis

Protect the Prince by Jennifer Estep

February 15, 2022 by Pooja 2 Comments

Evie may have killed her cousin and become queen of Bellona, but her troubles are far from over. Morta continues to threaten her kingdom, and now she must make peace with Sully’s father to strengthen themselves against the enemy. There’s a mystery of sorts as Evie must figure out the culprit behind a series of assassination attempts. Using her mysterious powers and her wits, she works to solve the mystery quite quickly, and though I was able to guess the killer ahead of her I […]

Isla and the I couldn’t care less

March 2, 2015 by scootsa1000 1 Comment

Remember last year I read Anna and the French Kiss? It was cute and refreshing. Then I read Stephanie Perkins’ awesome short story, “It’s a Yuletide Miracle, Charlie Brown.” And I assumed that Stephanie Perkins and I were a match made in heaven, best friends forever. And then came Lola. And I still want to punch Lola in the face. So, here we have book three in the “trilogy” that is made up of Anna, Lola, and Isla. Isla and the Happily Ever After. And while it […]

Gin Bianco is an assassin. She won’t shut up about it, in fact

July 31, 2014 by Malin 7 Comments

Gin Blanco is an assassin. She goes under the name The Spider. Her weapon of choice is knives and she’s very good at her job, something she will rarely shut up about, even in times when people are trying to kill her. Gin lives in a world where there are a number of elementals, controlling fire, ice, earth, air, water, stone, even electricity and the like. Gin is a stone elemental and can also control ice. If you forget, she’ll remind you every third chapter […]
