The Girl I Was by Jeneva Rose

The Girl I Was by Jeneva Rose

October 6, 2025 by Classic Leave a Comment

I never heard of this author before, but she’s apparently very popular in thriller reader circles. I have to say that this book which is out of the norm for her was very very good. We got some time travel here with some heart. And I do say heart though parts of the book is heartbreaking. I really did enjoy this and am happy I got to read something that took my mind off of things for a bit. “The Girl I Was” follows Alexis […]

Home Is Where the Bodies Are by Jeneva Rose

I was just looking for a quick audiobook to burn off some Spotify hours since I’m paying for them whether I use them or not, and the log line for this one was just intriguing enough to get me to press play. Three estranged siblings reunite in the aftermath of their mother’s death, and while putting her affairs in order come across some VHS tapes containing some disturbing footage. The tape pertains to a missing girl (of course) from their childhood. A neighbor girl who […]

Home is Where The Bodies Are by Jeneva Rose (Author), January LaVoy (Narrator), Cassandra Campbell (Narrator), Brittany Pressley (Narrator), Andrew Eiden (Narrator)

We sometimes (sort of jokingly but also sort of not) say in my immediate family that we only get together with the extended family when there is a wedding or when there is a funeral.  Big life events bring people together, and it is the passing of their mother (Laura) that brings the siblings in this novel back into each other’s orbits.  And once they are back in each other’s lives, old tensions start to rise, exacerbated by the little fact that, oh yeah, their […]

Would you defend your cheating husband for murder?

The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose

April 27, 2023 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

Ooh this is another actual physical book I read! This one was even better than the other one. Sarah Morgan is the main character. She’s a successful partner at a law firm at 33. She’s also beautiful and rich and smart with a handsome and loving husband. He’s a writer and he spends most of his time at their cabin in the woods. Sarah bought it as a vacation house for the two of them, but he spends most of his time there alone. Or […]

Housewives, They Are Desperate…

One of Us is Dead by Jeneva Rose

September 17, 2022 by Jake Leave a Comment

Read as part of CBR14 Bingo: recommended. This book was recommended by author May Cobb, whose “My Summer Darlings” is one of the best things I read this year. I was looking for a female-focused thriller with a similar lack of inhibition.  Ok, right off the bat, this book is bonkers. If you looking at the premise and expecting any degree of verisimilitude, give this a hard pass. But it’s the willingness to lean into its bonkers-ness (?), to go over the top and just […]

One of Us Is Dead by Jeneva Rose

July 2, 2022 by Sofi Keren 1 Comment

You may have seen Jeneva Rose on TikTok, where she went viral by posting a video about defending her husband in court after he was accused of murdering his mistress. The story even hit The Daily Mail. But…that was just the plot of her novel The Perfect Marriage. When I walked into my local Barnes & Noble and saw her new novel, One of Us Is Dead, I had to buy it. Not just because I appreciate a good whodunit, but because I had been […]
