Fertilities

The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez

August 10, 2023 by Jake Leave a Comment

Read as part of CBR15Bingo: relation”ship.” This is a romance novel about two people in a relationship who the reader is supposed to “ship,” I s’pose. Never been a fan of the term, myself.  I’m going to give a brief review and say that this book is fine and entertaining if you like romance; moving in spots, cloying in others. And I’m going to spend the rest of the time spoiling the book talking about its take on infertility. So don’t read on if you […]

Another great book by Liane Moriarty

May 22, 2017 by Lindzgrl Leave a Comment

It’s clear that the target reader for Liane Moriarty’s books is primarily female and, most likely, a parent and married woman. So I’m not sure why I gravitate to her books so much—I am female, but I am neither a parent nor married—but damn if I do love her stuff. When I start one of her books I am pulled in immediately and swept along the entire story. She does a fairly brilliant job of drawing up fun, interesting and complex characters, and keeping the […]

When a book is (way) more than just a book.

January 15, 2017 by Blingle Bells 5 Comments

This review requires a lot of backstory that isn’t directly related to the actual quality of the book, so bear with me. Some facts pertinent to what I’m leading up to: My husband and I are Catholic adult converts. Our daughter took years and fertility treatments to conceive, and trying for kid #2 has not proven one bit easier. When I finally did get pregnant, I had a difficult pregnancy and good reason to think she might not make it. For the first time I […]

Sisters Seem Fun Sometimes, Sometimes Not So Fun

January 27, 2016 by Melina Leave a Comment

So this is final Liane Moriarty book until she publishes something new!  Excuse me while I experience some sadness.  Ok, done. Having just finished the Last Anniversary and the Hypnotist’s Love Story and being mildly disappointed with them both (they were good, not great), I wasn’t sure what I was going to get with Three Wishes.  I’m happy to report that I wasn’t let down.  Three Wishes tells the story of the […]
