I read some books. Here’s their reviews. Hope you like.

This is My Treehouse by Guillaume Gueraud

Sleepy Happy Capy Cuddles by Mike Allegra

Noura’s Crescent Moon by Zaina Khan

The Ever-Changing Earth by Grahame Baker-Smith

August 30, 2023 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

I am switching between my old links and new links of online reader copies. In my new links I have This is My Treehouse. It is a quiet, but busy, story about a child and the treehouse that is magical and can take them any place they want to go. It is a rocket and a pirate ship. It might be leaky and not that big, but it is what is needed. Guillaume Gueraud’s story is nice, but it was the illustrations of Alfred that […]

Two books neither about dance

Zander Stay by Maureen Fergus

Where Dreams Take You by Elena Ferrándiz

May 23, 2023 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

Who wants to do the Time Warp when you can do the Picture Book Round Up? Ok, ok.  It’s not a dance, and while fun, not nearly as fun as the Time Warp, so let me start again. Hi all, I am writing abut two picture books I read recently.  The first is Zander Stays. This book is about a goose, that does goose things, and not so goose things, and has a funny twist ending. The second is Where Dreams Take You, that is […]

The can’t write 250 words for either book so combined the reviews in to one big one

Imagine a World: Full of Wonder by Heather Lean

The Art of Rewilding: The Return of Yellowstone’s Wolves by Nadja Belhadj

April 20, 2023 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

The other day I was writing a review for a book and could comfortably get around 150 words to make a decent review.  I’m used to keeping my reviews under 75 words for newsletter reviews, and under 100 for a web review. I have gotten better with this 250 but some books, well a 250 worded review is more words than the book has. And while that probably is not true with the second book, it was most likely for the first one. Therefore, that […]

All wet books

The Lodge That Beaver Built by Randi Sonenshine

Mika and the Gurgler by Agata Loth-Ignaciuk

March 17, 2023 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

I like picture books, but it can be hard writing the 250 word review required of them (after all, when your review must have more words than your book it can be tricky, even for this “run at the fingers” reviewer). Therefore, I have a few fun ones for your reading choices. Now, The Lodge That Beaver Built was not necessarily my favorite book to read, but it was interesting and fun. This is for the child who likes animals, and building. The facts are […]

CBR15Passport15, New to me Author Kathy Cremer and friends

A Star for Mama by Ashling Kwok

A Squiggly Line by Robert Vescio

Peanut by Kathy Creamer

Lucky Horse Shoes by Kathy Cremer

February 2, 2023 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

CBR15Passport, New to me author I could say these books are connected by the fact they are books (a good reason as far as I’m concerned). Or I could say they are connected because they are picture books (better reason). Or I could say they are connected by Kathy Creamer (which is the best as they are). I didn’t know who Creamer was before these books. And between their author and illustrating, I now know they have a bit of a creativeness to them that […]

Special relationship

Bailey and the Blanket by Emily House

December 26, 2022 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

I am fairly certain I have read Bailey and the Blanket before. Perhaps I have not reviewed Emily House’s book here, but even if I have, every time you read a book you find something different (or I do). Or your feelings change as you are in a different mindset or have had new experiences since then. Of course, you could also feel the same way as you did the first time. That is the magic of a book. You never know where it will […]
