Having devoured the rest of the Kate Daniels series earlier this year, I pre-ordered this and read it as soon as it came out (although stupid work has got in the stupid way of reviewing ever since). Magic Triumphs made for a great finale to a fantastic series – I’ll definitely miss having more Kate to look forward to. So…War has been looming for post-shift Atlanta ever since Kate laid claim to the land, making her a direct obstacle to her father’s quest for domination. […]
Why me? Ugh
This review is not for people who have not read the book.
Verdict: It’s fine, but I wanted better.
#CBR10 Bingo: Throwback Thursday – the Kate Daniels series (minus book 10)
#CBR10Bingo: Throwback Thursday Spoiler warning! This is my re-read of the first nine books in the Kate Daniels series, in addition to the two books books set in the same universe, Gunmetal Magic and Iron and Magic, as well as two of the more essential novellas to complete my revisit of the complex and fascinating world that Ilona Andrews have created. If you read through this review, I will assume you are familiar with the series already. If you haven’t read the books yet, but are looking for a good introduction, […]
Who Should a Monster Marry? Another Monster
How do you rehabilitate a charismatic villain, whose behavior should have put him beyond redemption, to the point that a reader wants him to have a Happily Ever After? The response was overwhelmingly positive, which horrified me, but I guess it shouldn’t have surprised me.
So Very, Very Shiny! Also, Triple!
Bingo Square: So Shiny One good thing about being on the West Coast for work: my Kate Daniels pre-order was delivered to my Kindle account at 12 AM EST, which was 9 pm PST. I was still up at that point, and immediately dropped the other book I was reading (it’s alright, it was for the TBT square so it’s not like I don’t know how it’s going to end) and dived into Magic Triumphs! So first off, Conlan, Curran and Kate’s son, is adorable! […]
An April Fool’s Joke come true
4.5 stars While this is technically the first book in a new series, which can be read on its own, this book fits into the larger framework of the Kate Daniels universe (where this book is book 9.5 out of 10). So there’s quite a bit of back story you’re missing out on if you’ve not read the other books first. While the first book is rough, the series as a whole is my favourite paranormal/urban fantasy series, probably ever, so if you like the genre and […]
