“The world was going crazy. Nothing left to do but hold on and yell “Wheee!” at strategic moments.”

Magic Triumphs (Kate Daniels #10) by Ilona Andrews

June 14, 2019 by alwaysanswerb Leave a Comment

I was holding out on reading this, the final book in Ilona Andrews’ Kate Daniel series, for a long time. Over the years, these books were warm stew, a thick blanket, and a campfire. They were familiar, comfortable, and satisfying, every time. After the first 9 books, as a reader, I wondered how on earth it was going to finish. It seemed impossible, because we knew that as powerful as Kate was, Roland, her father and enemy, was even moreso, and even if she could […]

Not quite measuring up to expectations

Clean Sweep (Innkeeper Chronicles #1) by Ilona Andrews

May 2, 2019 by TheShitWizard 5 Comments

I actually read this a few weeks ago, but since then I’ve found myself so consumed by Game of Thrones that I’ve neglected pretty much everything else in my life. Let’s get caught up, shall we? In the midst of some heavy duty non-fiction reading, I found myself jonesing for some nice and easy brain candy, so when Clean Sweep came up on offer on my kindle, I jumped at it. I’ve already read and enjoyed two Ilona Andrews series (Kate Daniels and Hidden Legacy), […]

If I didn’t already like this series, this book would have converted me.

Fate's Edge (The Edge, #3) by Ilona Andrews

February 11, 2019 by narfna 6 Comments

Mostly what I want to say about this book is that it was really fun. It’s definitely my favorite of the series so far. I liked the plot the best, I liked the characters the best, and my favorite magical brothers, Jack and George, play a significant role. I loved them in the first book, and I’m glad they’re being used well in the rest of the series. I read almost this whole thing on Superbowl Sunday, and in my opinion, that was a much […]

An excellent bridging story between a finished trilogy and a series to come

December 24, 2018 by Malin Leave a Comment

4.5 stars Spoiler warning! This novella takes place after the events of Wildfire and this review may spoil things for any reader who has not finished the original Hidden Legacy trilogy. Proceed at your own risk. Nevada Baylor is marrying Connor Rogan, and that means a huge society wedding with countless guests, including many of Rogan’s family members from all over the world. After the bride runs off numerous wedding planners, her sisters Catalina and Arabella decide to take over the wedding planning duties. It turns out that dealing with […]

This is How You Use a Novella to Transition a Series!

November 10, 2018 by Jen K 1 Comment

I only read the first sentence of the synopsis for this one – all I knew was that it was an Ilona Andrews Hidden Legacy novella so it was an automatic preorder.  I saw that it was about Connor AKA Mad Rogan and Nevada’s wedding but it’s not like I needed any more detail to read this one. As a result, I was pleasantly surprised to see that after the prologue with Nevada’s introduction to Connor’s mother, the novel shifted perspectives to the next Baylor sister, Catalina.  Don’t get […]

Sexy swamp people.

Short review, because I read this over a month ago. It actually took me forever to read it! I had this book out in ebook form from the library three times before I read it. They kept taking it away from me before I could work up the energy or desire. I finally caved and just bought a Kindle copy, and of course that’s the one that ended up sticking, since I owned it forevermore, I went ahead and read it the next day. Sigh. […]
