A little Cannonball housekeeping, and a 5 star comic.

March 28, 2016 by Blingle Bells 3 Comments

Before I get down to this review, I have a little housekeeping to take care of. I want to let you guys know that I’m going to start adding a content warning to My reviews. A friend of mine who is a good and sensitive soul recently pointed out that the phrase “trigger warning” could itself be upsetting to someone who has experienced gun violence, and besides, I think that phrase takes us all back to Livejournal in 2002 a little too much. And maybe […]

Expanded version of the website is a worthwhile purchase for fans

December 21, 2015 by TylerDFC Leave a Comment

The cover photo here is from my desk at work. That would be Allie in the middle, flanked by Simple Dog on the left and Helper Dog on the right. So yes, I’m a fan. This book collects all of the entries from the Hyperbole & A Half website as well as several new ones. I’m not sure how many of the entries are new, but I’ve been a fan of the site for years and there were several I either read and forgot about […]

Maybe Everything Isn’t Hopeless Bullshit

June 5, 2015 by yesknopemaybe 5 Comments

I was a big fan of the Hyperbole and a Half blog so I kept meaning to get around to reading this memoir/graphic novel by Allie Brosh, but for some reason it kept getting pushed to the bottom of my reading pile. Maybe subconsciously I was saving it for a low point, some future time when I needed a serious laugh. I’m glad I saved it because it was just the medicine I needed when I was sick and stuck in bed for a week. […]

Are You Kidding Me, Another One?

February 14, 2014 by Marc 3 Comments

There’s a chance that if you’re reading this review, you might not be an active participant in Cannonball Read 6.  Maybe you didn’t sign up, unsure of whether or not you could participate to your satisfaction, or you missed the deadline, or you just wanted to cheerlead from the sidelines, or any other number of reasonable and perfectly fine reasons.  Nonetheless, you could always try to read fifty two Cannonball Read reviews this year! In fact, you might even be able to read fifty two […]

Hyperbole and a Half

January 5, 2014 by Walking Widdershins 2 Comments

I got this and Yes, Chef from my Cannonball book elf, Jeena Livance Lim. Can’t even tell you how excited I was when I opened the box. Everyone has probably read this by now, but I’ve always been really good at being late to the party. Everyone also has probably heard about Allie Brosh’s struggles with depression, a lot of which were happening when this book was in production (from what I can tell, at least).  The book is made up of material that was […]
