Everything happens in this book: Snow Crash

March 8, 2014 by tillie Leave a Comment

Hiro Protagonist (yeah, that’s his name) is a pizza deliverer in an unspecified future. Pizza delivery is run by the mafia and is super important. All pizzas must be delivered within 30 minutes or huge, major consequences happen. Long story short he crashes in a pool and meets Y.T a spunky skate-board-car-surfer. She delivers the pizza and thus befriends the mafia. And then Hiro is also a hacker and there is a huge virtual world called the metaverse. And in this metaverse there is a […]

Pretty Good Taste, Not Very Filling

February 17, 2014 by Another Kate 2 Comments

This book retains TLo’s trademark snark but dispenses with the knowledgeable fashion analysis and commentary that lift their site into the stratosphere, far and away above the “WHO WORE IT BEST?” columns in the likes of People and Us. Instead, they train their sights on the celebrity machine, and carefully explain the care and feeding of a typical celeb — how he or she becomes famous, behaves while famous, and tenaciously clings to fame. The result is a fitfully entertaining screed, devoid of the very […]

Some facts about Jim Henson you may not know

January 31, 2014 by HC 10 Comments

I’m going to attempt this review without making any sweeping assumptions about how anyone could possibly dislike Jim Henson, or the muppets, and what that would say about a person’s soul or LACK THEROF. (Point of interest: my boyfriend is indifferent toward Jim Henson and can’t stand the muppets. Other than that he’s great and has all the outward signs of a soul, but I should dump him, right?) With biographies, especially of a person I admire, there’s always this feeling of uncertainty whether I […]

Clans and Cats and Murder, Oh My.

January 29, 2014 by sistercoyote Leave a Comment

Radical Daffodils Review of Crazy, VA Honestly, I only picked Crazy, VA up because it was free the day I downloaded it. Much to my delight, it turned out to be the perfect weekend read: an enjoyable, engaging murder mystery centered on the relationship between a woman, her cat, and the town called Crazy.
