A dutiful duke and a beautiful courtesan – how will they make it work?

Dare to Love a Duke by Eva Leigh

March 23, 2019 by Malin Leave a Comment

Thomas Powell has just become the Duke of Northfield and has to set aside his previously rakish ways to protect his father’s legacy and ensure a good future for his younger sister. She’s very much in love with the son of one of their father’s most trusted allies in Parliament, who clearly expects Thomas to continue supporting him, whether Thomas actually agrees with his views or not. Torn between duty and his own conscience, Thomas is struggling. The one place he feels at ease, the […]

The Roads Made By Kings Are Not The Only Paths A Man May Travel

Desire Lines by Elizabeth Kingston

March 11, 2019 by Emmalita Leave a Comment

I enjoyed this book so much more than I expected. I received this as an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for a review. I asked for it because I saw the author’s name and didn’t read the description until after I had received it. I follow Kingston on Twitter and find her delightful. I generally find the medieval period unromantic, and have avoided medieval romances like the plague. Desire Lines is interesting, well written, and engaging enough to overcome my usual dislike for the period. It’s […]

Every romance has a Happily Ever After but this series has sisterhood too

Scandalous Desires by Elizabeth Hoyt

Thief of Shadows by Elizabeth Hoyt

Lord of Darkness by Elizabeth Hoyt

Duke of Midnight by Elizabeth Hoyt

Darling Beast by Elizabeth Hoyt

March 11, 2019 by alphabootoo Leave a Comment

My first review for Elizabeth Hoyt’s Maiden Lane series was not particularly effusive but as I have continued on in the series I have come to appreciate it more. Hoyt tells stories that interweave with various threads being teased in every book. There is a large cast of main characters who generally connect in some way. And while these are romances, with the requisite strapping heroes and irresistable heroines, there is also the Ladies’ Syndicate for the Benefit of the Home for Unfortunate Infants and […]

The Falling in Love was Lovely

When a Duchess Says I Do by Grace Burrowes

February 25, 2019 by Emmalita 1 Comment

I have just signed up for Netgalley and this is the first book I’ve received from them. So, standard terms and conditions apply, I received a free copy in exchange for a review. I loved about half the book and was annoyed by about half the book. I loved Duncan and Matilda. I loved them individually. I loved them together. They were lovely and reading as they came to like and trust each other and then fall in love was like sinking into a warm […]

Twitter Can Be Fun

Destiny's Surrender by Beverly Jenkins

February 15, 2019 by Debcapsfan 1 Comment

3.5 stars I started following Beverly Jenkins on Twitter because someone told her to “check her white privilege.” Romance twitter is fun and she is fun. (Don’t cross any of the romance authors on twitter though because they will eat you alive.) So today’s my birthday and I found out we share a birthday and it’s all very exciting. Anyhoo, I enjoyed this book. It’s very steamy, Billie is a whore and Andrew is an attorney and land owner. That’s certainly one way to work […]

A shipboard romance that could have been better

The Other Miss Bridgerton by Julia Quinn

February 13, 2019 by Mikki Blu 4 Comments

Oh, I have loved many of Julia Quinn’s books, and adored the Bridgerton saga but I have to say it’s time to let go of that family.  This is the third book in the Rokesby’s series, and much like the first two, this one just didn’t do it for me.  I guess I was hoping that this one was better!  Poppy Bridgerton is the heroine of this one, and is a typical spunky gal who hasn’t been courted and has no marriage prospects despite being […]
