Pink Panties and Devilish Men

Wicked and the Wallflower by Sarah MacLean

November 5, 2021 by GoAllieGo Leave a Comment

Hoo boy, do I chuckle at my newfound shamelessness. Perhaps one of the best parts of being in my thirties is my solid belief that I just don’t GAF what anybody thinks about me anymore. And in that vein, I have unabashedly thrown myself into a semi-regular consumption of delightfully trashy romance novels! This book easily fits the bill, being a welcome, fun, mostly brainless/unrealistic but somehow sexy lil romp through fantasy land. The story features ridiculous characters, including a comically “plain” female lead […]

New favorite author!

July 1, 2016 by Ellepkay 2 Comments

I have been in a complete reading slump.  I am in the middle of three contemporary romances right now, and while I intend to finish all of them, none of them are holding my attention.  Historicals were my first love, and will always be the thing I come back to.  But, the more I read, the crankier I get and it just gets harder and harder to please me.  I want the author to do something new! Something different that I haven’t seen before.  ‘Wow’ […]

Another American Heiress Invades Britain

April 5, 2016 by Mikki Blu Leave a Comment

Actual rating 2.5 stars, rounding up here.  When I started reading this book, I was hit by a strong sense of deja-vu.  It reminded me so much of ‘Lady Bridget’s Diary’ by Maya Rodale that I just read recently! To compare:  Wealthy American heiress descends on British society, is like a fish out of water and is very outspoken and yet adorably charming?  Check.  Two brothers (in this case twins) – older brother is the titled peer, portrayed as remote, unemotional and does not dance, […]

Beautiful Chaos in a Ballgown

April 2, 2016 by Mikki Blu 4 Comments

Heath Hextall, Earl of Boden, is on a mission to find a wife.  At least, that is what he tells his long time friend William Somerhall at the ball they are attending.  Will has recently found happiness with Jenna (see my review for ‘A Good Rogue is Hard to Find’), but he is surprised that Heath is ready to settle down.  The problem is that Heath is tired of taking care of everything in his life.  Since inheriting the earldom, it’s been a struggle to […]
