“Better to regret trying something than to regret never doing anything at all!” — Sweet High School Romances

Hoteri Hotette First Kiss by Coco Uzuki

January 5, 2025 by GentleRain Leave a Comment

There is a nice variety of relationships offered here, from two shy nerds to a cool upperclassman and a serious girl in a calligraphy club. Each of them has to work their way through misunderstandings and nerves to get to the first kiss. I liked that after the first kiss, the continuing development of the relationships was shown and the importance of communication […]

Heartstopper Volume 4 by Alice Oseman

I love him so, so much. But what I’ve realized through all of this is that we need other people too: siblings, parents, friends, more friends, a therapist. Even teachers sometimes. That doesn’t mean our relationship isn’t strong. ― Alice Oseman, Heartstopper Volume 4 I’ve been working my way through my recommendation list lately. As soon as I wrap up one series, I’m sad that it is over. I tend to go looking for something along the same lines. After falling in love with […]

Kaguya-sama Love is War vols. 2-3 by Aka Akasaka

March 15, 2022 by CoffeeShopReader Leave a Comment

Last time I continued a few volumes of a series I wasn’t sure about, it didn’t go that well; this time, with Kaguya-sama, Love is War (vols. 2-3), things actually improved. I still don’t like Kaguya herself, but everyone else gets a little more interesting and relatable. The basic gist is that the top two students at school, Miyuki Shirogane and KaguyaShinomiya, like each other but due to pride etc. they keep trying to force the other one to admit it first. That’s it, the […]
