All the things that make you different make you perfect.

It was Amazon that recommended The Kiss Quotient (2018) by Helen Hoang to me. I’m a sucker for romance novels, but then I saw Roxanne Gay’s blurb: “This is such a fun read and its also quite original and sexy and sensitive.” I was sold. The long wait list at the library also showed how popular it was, so I read it almost as soon as it became available. In many ways, The Kiss Quotient is a normal romance novel. The plot and story are all about the two […]

Some small fumbles, but the good outweighs the bad. #CBRBingo

Project: Catch Up On Review Backlog, review #9 out of 16 So basically, my thoughts on this book are that it made some entry level mistakes, but I enjoyed myself anyway, because it also did some things I really liked. I’ve been having trouble buckling down to actually write this review, so I’ll do what I always do when that happens. Wait 5,000 years to review it and then do a pro/con list. Let’s start with the stuff I didn’t like about it first, so […]

The Kiss Quotient

August 6, 2018 by Caitycat 2 Comments

This review will fill the “Not in My Wheelhouse” square. I believe I have stated this before on here, but I’m not much of a Romance girl. There seems to be a stereotype of women loving their little mass market paperbacks of billionaires seducing young ingenues or Fabio with an open shirt kissing a woman with a heaving bosom. Of course, not all women are into these things, and if they are, that’s their business and they aren’t hurting anyone, so who cares? But I […]

The escort with the dragon tattoo

July 30, 2018 by Jen K Leave a Comment

I started putting down my thoughts for this one, and then decided to check out what Malin had to say and noticed that we had similar reactions.  Overall, I really enjoyed this one, and I am going to need another reader to do some fan art of what Michael’s tattoo might look like ASAP because an athletic, attractive, ripped man with a dragon tattoo? Obviously, going to need a visual on that! Stella is a highly successful econometrist working in the Bay area involved in […]

A gender-swapped Pretty Woman featuring a South Asian neuro-atypical heroine who works in STEM. Also – Cannonball!

July 6, 2018 by Malin 7 Comments

Stella Lane loves mathematics and equations and is extremely good at her job, which involves creating algorithms to predict customer purchases, It makes her highly valued by her employer and she makes more money than she has any idea what to do with. Stella has Asperger’s, which means she’s on the Autism Spectrum, and has not had a lot of success when dating in the past. She believes this is her fault (it’s not, she’s clearly dated some total loser creeps). So when her mother declares […]
