Stay Close by Harlan Coben Some more glorious Southern/Midwest Gothic.  A new fantasy series happens when an author eats a whole lot of Legend and Labyrinth and Goblin Codpieces.  Dave Gurney solves racism with a thousand red herrings.  Secrets, […]

Episode 1-23: Sometimes Your Words Just Hypnotize Me

June 18, 2018 by prisco Leave a Comment

https://killingmykindle.com/2018/06/18/episode-1-23-sometimes-your-words-just-hypnotize-me/ Wherein I review: 88. Lucky Jim by Kingsley Amis 89. Don’t Let Go by Harlan Coben 90. Wolf Lake (Dave Gurney #5) by John Verdon I read a university literary romp where I hate every character, then I travel to New Jersey for a decades long murder mystery involving an old Nike Missile base, and then we go on the worst vacation since Ed Helms’ mistake with Dave Gurney that involves hypnotism and completely abandoning your previous character development for the sake of plot.

Hello Old Friends

May 27, 2017 by Jenny S 1 Comment

I really can’t be objective when Harlan Coben writes another Myron Bolitar mystery.  I’m just so darn happy to see Myron, Win, and the rest of the Scooby gang again and find out what they’re up to.   I read this latest outing in about four hours and it felt like a great way to start the summer reading season with a book that doesn’t break any new ground but which engaged me from beginning to end. Jumping into this book is a bit like coming […]

Harlan Coben, I Love You but You’re Bringing Me Down

February 26, 2015 by Jenny S Leave a Comment

It’s clear to me after reading this umpteenth suspense stand alone by Harlan Coben that the man can write a thriller in his sleep (and perhaps does?). They go down easy—all too easy—like a big bag of chips. It took me less than 24 hours to finish this one, but I worry in another 24 hours, I will have forgotten the plot and in another 24, the main character, and a few weeks later, I will have to remind myself that I actually did read […]

You can probably see where it’s going inside of Six Pages though….

September 3, 2014 by popcultureboy 2 Comments

I have never read a Harlan Coben book before. I keep confusing him with Dennis Lehane. Whenever I see anything about Harlan Coben, I always think “oh, yeah, he wrote Mystic River, I really want to read that. Wait. NO HE DIDN’T”. But I loved the French movie they made from his book Tell No-One and the plot for this sounded super intriguing so I thought what the heck. So the titular time period is how long lapses between Jake Sanders watching the love of his life Natalie Avery, marry […]
