Insubstantial Fluff

A Fellowship of Librarians & Dragons by J. Penner

October 11, 2025 by CoffeeShopReader Leave a Comment

Bingo 21: Review I may have already had A Fellowship of Librarians and Dragons on my TBR before looking up reviews, but turns out I had a pretty similar reaction to Bjornsnipe: https://everyday-offershub.com/2025/10/a-fellowship-of-librarians-dragons-adenashire-book-two-bjornsnipe/ This series, not totally surprisingly, appears to be let’s take a core group, and then pair everyone off, one novel at a time. There’s not a lot of substance, and no attention to realism. This is pure wish fulfillment, where everything turns out  fine in the end, romantically, family-wise, dragon baby-wise, friend-wise, […]

Tea, and Family Troubles, and Dragons, Oh My!

A Fellowship of Librarians & Dragons: Adenashire, Book Two by J. Penner

October 2, 2025 by bjornsnipe Leave a Comment

Set six months after the events of A Fellowship of Bakers & Magic, Dolgrilla Butterbuckle (and isn’t that just a name and a half) has settled in nicely to the village of Ardenshire. Sure, she’s away from her family, but seeing as they have always been disappointed by how she’s chosen to live her life, Doli isn’t too put out by the fact. She has her friends, romance novels, and copious amounts of tea, and nothing seems to be going wrong. Not until her parents […]

Quick Questions with a Cannonballer: elisamaza76

June 13, 2024 by katie71483 16 Comments

Hi, elisamaza76! Can you tell us a little about your screen name and where it came from? A couple of these answers are not so quick. I mean, I’ll do my best, but YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID! Username: Well, “1000 years ago, superstition and the sword ruled…” Just kidding. My username is an homage to one of the best characters ever, from one of the best shows ever: NYPD Detective Elisa Maza from Gargoyles, a cartoon that aired as (sort of) part of the […]

Gargoyles? After mothmen, why not?

Titan by Jillian Graves

July 14, 2022 by llamareadsbooks Leave a Comment

As a kid who grew up watching Gargoyles and later having very inappropriate thoughts about Goliath and Desdemona, of course I leapt at a chance to read this ARC. And it’s exactly what it says on the tin: a gargoyle monster romance with daddy dom kink. After a childhood as a successful actress, Jules should’ve been set for life. Instead, her mom and ex-manager kicked her out when she turned eighteen and refuse to relinquish her trust. Ten years later, she pays her bills by sugaring, […]

House hunting and Lessons in Leadership for Vampires

Out of House and Home by Drew Hayes

July 24, 2021 by CoffeeShopReader Leave a Comment

Bingo 7: Home This one was just kind of fortuitous; I wanted to read Fred the Vampire Accountant #7 which has just recently been published, and it just so happened to be perfect for this square, being titled Out of House and Home. It’s not just the title either, the book is actually about losing and finding both literal and metaphorical home. The book opens a little while after the final events of book 6 (a wedding); Fred and company are getting back to their […]

God Bless the Gargoyles and us, too

September 9, 2018 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

I absolutely love the illustrations in God Bless the Gargoyles. Dav Pilkey has stepped away from his more humorous stories and gone a spiritual and Christian route. The nod to a famous painting also is a neat treat. While the story is religious (the Church, the story of gargoyles and angels), it is not “in your face” overly religious. It is more of a spiritual story. However yet, it is not for a non-believer.   I would have like more history of the gargoyle. It […]
