“The air had the same temperature and quality as a patty melt.” Oo…kay?

Before the Fall by Noah Hawley

March 26, 2021 by Bothari43 2 Comments

I thoroughly enjoyed Legion (the first season, at least) and Fargo (the first couple seasons, at least), so when I found out showrunner Noah Hawley had written a few books, I wanted to check one out to see if that talent worked on the page as well. Verdict: The book starts with the crash of a private plane. A tiny, fancy plane leaves from Martha’s Vineyard, carrying two rich men, their wives, two children, and a painter who was friends with one of the wives. […]

Before He Was a Showrunner, He Was a Novelist

January 2, 2018 by Dustin Rowles 6 Comments

I love Noah Hawley, the showrunner, who has created two great seasons of Fargo and one decent season; a bizarre but fascinating season of Legion; and an under-appreciated season of The Unusuals. With his television work, however, Hawley has always worked in the confines of another property, whether it’s the framework of Fargo, the characters of Legion, or the constricts of a network police procedural in The Unusuals. I was deeply curious as to who Hawley is in his natural state: What kind of yarn […]

“Life is made of these moments – of one’s physical being moving through time and space – and we string them together into a story, and that story becomes our life.”

Here’s something weird. I read this book a few weeks ago, and I couldn’t put it down. I kept talking about how great it was and how much I loved it. And then I kind of forgot about it, and just moved on to the next book. Which, considering that Noah Hawley is mostly known as a TV writer, sort of makes sense: Finish up one episode, and get ready for the next. You may know Noah Hawley as the mastermind behind the amazing Fargo. […]

I can’t stop reading this book!

December 18, 2016 by kfishgirl 5 Comments

I’ve got my last 2 books picked out. They’ll be #51 and #52 for my first ever full Cannonball. I made it halfway last year, and unless I’m attacked by an acid shooting squid and I go blind in the next two weeks, I’ll hit my first full Cannonball. I’m really excited, because it feels like a cool accomplishment. Anyway, here are my last two books, lines up on my counter, waiting to be conquered: I’m finishing with The BFG, because my 6 year old […]
