Target: China Miéville’s Un Lun Dun Profile: Young Adult, Fantasy, Weird Fantasy ‘China Miéville’ and ‘children’s book’ are not, at first glance, two things that would appear to mesh. Stories about love and death. No songs, really. The title’s a bit misleading.
Overall rating: 3.5 stars This is an anthology, where all the stories are focused around love and death. I know, extremely surprising, based on the title. I will write a tiny bit about each of the stories, and conclude with my general impression of the anthology as a whole. It’s a really long post, what with me writing about 17 different stories. This trade paperback of The Unwritten collects issues 42-49 of the comic. It’s been going for years now and is really quite heavily arc-based, so I wouldn’t start with this one. This trade paperback volume of Saga collects issues 13-18. It’s an ongoing series, and you really should be starting at the beginning. It’s also the best comic book/graphic novel series I’ve read in probably a decade, so if you haven’t read it, run to your nearest comics shop and come back when you’ve caught up.
