People are Strange when you’re an alien

Strange Planet: The Sneaking, Hiding, Vibrating Creature by Nathan W. Pyle

July 7, 2021 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

cbr13bingo FAUNA  Strange Planet: The Sneaking, Hiding, Vibrating Creature is classic Nathan W. Pyle. This time around, instead of the more adult images of his comic strip, there is a more “kid friendliness” to the story as it is set in a “full length” picture book. This allows for all ages to enjoy this adventure. Our theme could have been seen in a strip but has been expanded for this presentation. The Offspring and The Lifegiver (two aliens of blue coloring and questionable attire wearing, […]

Shark Summer by Ira Marcks

July 7, 2021 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

cbr13bingo  HOME  The journey I took to read the book Shark Summer: I heard we were having the author (Ira Marcks) for a virtual event. I found the reader copy. I did not read it until after the event, which I also forgot was happening. Therefore, I was unable to partake of the knowledge, information and questions asked of him/passed down by him. However, that was a good thing as one should not go into this book knowing too much about it. Those spoils […]

Okay, it is a lot cheesy, but also a cute love story

Autoboyography by Christina Lauren

June 29, 2021 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

Note: all images shamelessly stolen from the internet as I really got into the Simon & Schuster free online books this month.   I was on the fence about Autoboyography by Christina Lauren (or Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings). I was not sure I was reading for another GLBTQ book so soon after the others I had read, and frankly thought the cover too cute. And when I got into the book, the “meet cute” romance tone of the story explained the cover. And yes, […]

Spider-Ham Graphic Novel: Great Power, No Responsibility by Steve Foxe

Waffles and Pancake: Planetary-YUM by Drew Brockington

June 23, 2021 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

I said to myself this weekend: What did I do to log myself out of my Simon and Schuster account of free ebooks? Of course, who knows what the password is as it is the only one that I have not put on my list of passwords (hiding in my hidden spot). So, what is a poor girl to do? Go old school with wonderful and amazing in your hand reader copies! Book one was Book Buddies V01 Ivy Lost and Found created by Cynthia […]

Take a Trip

Grandad’s Camper by Harry Woodgate

June 23, 2021 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

I use the phrase “cozy read” a lot, but Grandad’s Camper by Harry Woodgate is a cozy read. Even if it is not always a happy read. You could substitute any gender of the two grandfathers of the story, and you have “this” story, as the loss of a spouse or partner is universal. Everyone will grieve, everyone will remember the connections they had. I enjoyed how everything is just “normalized” and not “in your face” about the subject. The two grandfathers of the child […]

The Loud House #13: Lucy Rolls the Dice by Loud House Creative Team

June 23, 2021 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

I have read one other collection of the Loud House family. This time, I found The Loud House #13: Lucy Rolls the Dice in an online format from Papercutz. This company publishes graphic novels such as the Smurfs, Magical History Tour, and a few others I have reviewed here, does a lovely perk in their newsletter where you can get one free read online per newsletter. It is a great way for me to find the Nickelodeon/Nick at Night looking comics of the Loud family. […]
