Harajuku Rapunzel

December 31, 2014 by Robyn Robotron Leave a Comment

First Gwen Stefani, now Rapunzel?  I do have to say, I love her style, especially that bathroom haircut and her final fight outfit with that fuzzy coat that I’m not going to tell you what it’s made of.

What’s love got to do with it?

None of those who gave Sleeping Beauty “true love’s kiss” ever stuck around.  You think that’s because it doesn’t mean what we think it does?

The world’s bestselling fable.

June 17, 2014 by narfna Leave a Comment

I have a couple of friends who think this book is the worst thing they’ve ever read. Of course, these same friends are also notoriously high-minded about a lot of things, over which we frequenly butt heads, but mostly I think they are missing the point with this one. It’s not meant to be high literature. It’s not even meant to be all that well-written (in the classical sense of the phrase). Capital-L Literature is meant to elevate, and to a certain extent, it’s elitist. This, […]

Is this the beginning of the end?

So, I met Bill Willingham at a book signing between this book and the last one, Cubs In Toyland.  That book was so freaking sad, and I told him as much and that I hoped that the next one would be lighter.  That’s not what happened.  Now, I’m not complaining, because as gut wrenching as it was, it was good.  He just wants to make us cry, apparently.  (Seriously though, he was really nice when I met him.)

Fables Vol. 19: Snow White

February 26, 2014 by Vylotte Leave a Comment

This volume has three separate stories: Bufkin and Lily, great Oz liberators, tell some of their follow-up adventures as they become heroes for hire. Bufkin has been one of my favorites, ever since the Magic Mirror painted him as one of the most formidable of foes, because “he reads, he reads EVERYTHING.” Bigby is off trying to track down his two missing cubs, while at home … Snow is trapped by an old promise and a new adversary, a situation that no one but Snow […]
