“Hidey ho, neighbor.” And he crossed the three feet that had been between them and slid his hands around her waist.

Chick Magnet by Emma Barry

October 4, 2022 by Emmalita 2 Comments

My heart. Emma Barry is so good. At its core, Chick Magnet is hurt/comfort. Nic and Will each start the book in a bad place and though they are in no condition to start a new relationship, they offer each other comfort and understanding. The deep emotion and drama of hurt/comfort is well balanced by the joy of chickens, kittens, friendships, and a variety of banters that range from funny to steamy. Nic has moved to Yagerstown, Virginia with her flock of chickens after being […]

Springing the Tightly Wound Man is Cathartic

He's Come Undone by Emma Barry, Olivia Dade, Adriana Herrera, Ruby Lang, and Cat Sebastian

November 4, 2020 by Emmalita Leave a Comment

I read He’s Come Undone months ago, so this isn’t going to be the best review I’ve ever written (probably not the worst either). I enjoyed it a lot, but at the time that I read it, it was all I could do to review my NetGalley books before their publication date. Writing a review of a book that didn’t come with an obligation was too much. The five authors in the anthology are all authors I have enjoyed very much. I can guarantee that the […]

Work, Love, and Politics

Special Interests by Emma Barry

Private Politics by Emma Barry

Party Lines by Emma Barry

October 20, 2020 by Emmalita Leave a Comment

This review is going to be a lot about me, but in case this becomes a tl/dr situation – I enjoyed these books very much and you might too. I miss living in Washington DC so much. I miss the person I was trying to be in my late 20s-early 30s. I love a lot about who I am now, but I don’t feel like I personally can make the world a better place anymore. Reading Emma Barry’s The Easy Part series, Special Interests, Private […]

Engineers in Love

Earth Bound (Fly Me to the Moon #2) by Emma Barry and Genevieve Turner

August 8, 2019 by Emmalita 7 Comments

I enjoyed Star Dust when I read it a few years ago, but I didn’t follow up because the next book was about Eugene Parsons and the grumpy, emotionally unavailable engineer did not sound like someone I wanted to read a romance about. Friends, I was an idiot. What a difference there is between 48 and 50, because now I know that a grumpy, emotionally unavailable engineer is my thing. Especially when paired with a super smart, emotionally unavailable engineer/mathematician. Eugene Parsons is one of the […]

Love is in the stars

December 18, 2017 by Sophia Leave a Comment

Star Dust (2015) by Emma Barry and Genevieve Turner is another one of those romances I read that was good, but not one of my favorites. At this point, I can’t remember where I first heard of it or why I picked it up. My best guess is that it was free on Amazon Kindle (which it still is), and I decided to try it out. Star Dust is Book One of the Fly Me to the Moon series. Unfortunately, this first book did not suck me in […]
