Call it Dragons Eleven

The Sky on Fire by Jenn Lyons

September 23, 2024 by dreadpiratekel 5 Comments

What do I often say I want in a book? I say I want a nice standalone fantasy novel. But when I read a standalone fantasy novel that I enjoy, I find myself thinking, “No wait! I want more time with these specific characters in this world.” I guess you have to be careful what you wish for because you might just get it. Now that I’ve finished The Sky on Fire by Jenn Lyons, I’m sitting here wanting more. For this review, I also […]

Two books. Two different Series. One review.

Baby-Sitters Little Sister Graphic Novel: V08 Karen's Sleepover by Ann M. Martin

The Wings of Fire V06 Moon Rising by Tui T. Sutherland

August 9, 2024 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

Series are pluses and minuses in my book. You can continue with characters you like, you can grow and change with them; you can learn from their mistakes and they can become like friends. But if you end on a cliffhanger, you have to wait. And sometimes wait and wait!  And sometimes the series is a take off from another series and you need to do a little catch up.  But the nice thing about the Baby-Sitters Little Sister Graphic Novel is that you do […]

War! Destruction! Snacks! Dragon style

Wings of Fire Graphic Novel Book One: The Dragonet Prophecy by Tui T. Sutherland, Mike Holmes

Wings of Fire Graphic Novel Book Two: The Lost Heir by Tui T. Sutherland, Mike Holmes

Wings of Fire Graphic Novel Book Three The Hidden Kingdom by Tui T. Sutherland, Mike Holmes

Wings of Fire Graphic Novel Book Four The Dark Secret by Tui T. Sutherland, Mike Holmes

Wings of Fire Graphic Novel Book Five The Brightest Night by Tui T. Sutherland, Mike Holmes

The journey of the Wings of Fire Graphic Novel series was not a smooth one as I read volumes one and two out of order. Therefore, read the series in order, take your time and try to read as close together as possible as things pick up where we leave off from the previous book and it assumes you know the backstory.  Book One: The Dragonet Prophecy by Tui T. Sutherland, Mike Holmes I have not read the novels this series is adapted from. However, considering […]

Two Reviews for Category Part Two

Meesh the Bad Demon #2: The Secret of the Fang: (A Graphic Novel) by Michelle Lam

City of Dragons V02 Rise of the Shadowfire: A Graphic Novel by Jaimal Yogis

July 10, 2024 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

Obviously Meesh the Bad Demon #2: The Secret of the Fang: (A Graphic Novel) by Michelle Lam is cbr16bingo Part Two because it says it is a Book Two in the title!  As is City of Dragons V02 Rise of the Shadowfire: A Graphic Novel. However, while I enjoyed both sequels, I was not as “into it” as book one. Still I like both and recommend them for the younger crowd, though there is some “spooky” to both, and especially in book one City of […]

The Color Black and Erased Memory

The Ancient Magus Bride Wizard's Blue vol. 8 by Makoto Sanda, Isuo Tsukumo, Kore Yamazaki

May 18, 2024 by CoffeeShopReader Leave a Comment

Is it weird that it’s sometimes uncomfortable reading in front of someone? As in, it almost feels like an invasion of privacy. Long story short, I’m hosting a family member temporarily out of their home for major water damage repair, and it’s been kind of hard to do extended reading time; that and it’s been crazy-time at work but that part’s better now. Anyways, both of those are why I’ve been going back to graphic novels and manga a bit more than usual lately (still […]

Push their faces together and make them kiss already

Assistant to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer

May 13, 2024 by carmelpie Leave a Comment

When her gaze finally reached his face, she had to swallow a sigh and bury it where nobody would ever find it. But how could she help it? His jaw was sharp and angled enough that it could be a weapon itself, strong enough to make her insides quiver. Don’t let him quiver your insides, Evie. ― Hannah Nicole Maehrer, Assistant to the Villain When she cannot find a job, Evie stumbles into the new role of the assistant to The Villain. Not “a” villain […]
