My favourite big red lizard gets his own modern Marvel comic

November 26, 2017 by Malin Leave a Comment

From the back blurb: Lunella Lafayette is an Inhuman preteen genius who wants to change the world! That job would be a lot easier if she wasn’t living in mortal fear of her latent inhuman gene. There’s no telling what she’ll turn into – but Luna’s got a plan. All she needs is an Omni-Wave Projector. Easy, right? That is, until a red-scaled beast is teleported from the prehistoric past to a far flung future we call…today! Together they are the most Marvellous Team-Up of […]

Where there is milk, there is hope

December 13, 2016 by Malin Leave a Comment

While Mum is away on business, it’s up to Dad to make sure that his son and daughter have everything they need. Like milk for their cereal. Dad goes to the shops, but is gone for really rather a long time. When he returns, he explains to his children why he was gone for so long. It’s a story of adventure, danger, space aliens, time travel, vampires, angry South American gods, pirates and the amazing Professor Steg. The entire thing is beautifully illustrated by Chris […]

Breaking Brontosaurus News

February 22, 2016 by terroringlasses 2 Comments

I loved My Beloved Brontosaurus. I really did. I was trying to pinpoint some sort of flaw as a reason why I would rate this book anything other than five stars, and I couldn’t. Maybe you’re not into science or dinosaurs (if that is the case, why did you pick this book up to begin with?). But I do love dinosaurs, truly, and the author takes some 200 years of paleontological research, including controversial updates, and synthesizes it into 222 pages of accessible, engaging science. […]

Dinosaurs don’t make everything better

January 25, 2016 by Dome'Loki 2 Comments

Note: Depression has been effecting me more strongly this month and has probably colored my review of this book. Fantasy is my genre of choice and for most of my life I’ve wanted to be a paleontologist so when I received “The Dinosaur Lords” for Christmas I assumed I wouldn’t be able to put the book down, sadly that was not the case.  In fact it was hard for me to get going in the first place.  The book starts with a page informing you […]

I urge you to stay so far away from this book you might not even want to read this review.

What in the ever-loving shit is this? First off, I didn’t expect much, here. It’s about explorers discovering a world hidden in the vast stretches of the Amazonian rain forest, replete with dinosaurs and ape-men. This isn’t Virginia Woolf. But I’ve been subsisting on a diet of H.G. Wells and H.P. Lovecraft, so I’ve been spoiled by less dense material that is still highly enjoyable and intellectually satiating. And then I fall into this sinking morass of blithering idiocy and overwrought pomposity. This book starts […]
