“I’ll take your bet,” he said grimly. “I’m going to win it. And in three months, I’m going to put this back on your finger, and take you to bed, and do things to you that are outlawed in the civilized world.”

Devil in Winter (Wallflowers, #3) by Lisa Kleypas

I can see why this is a lovable book. I think Kleypas basically caught lightning in a bottle with her two main characters, Evie and Sebastian, but I don’t have faith that she can recreate the magic in other books, so I probably won’t be reading any of her other stuff. The ultimate Rake and Wallflower story

April 28, 2017 by Malin 1 Comment

Shy, stuttering and normally rather timid Evangeline “Evie” Jenner shows up on the doorstep of notorious rake and scoundrel, Sebastian, Lord St. Vincent with a somewhat surprising proposition. Evie is also due to inherit lots of money and rather sooner than Lillian, as her father is at death’s […]

The Epitome of a Reformed Rake

September 11, 2016 by faintingviolet 8 Comments

My affection for Lisa Kleypas was slow in arriving. I was generally pleased with Secrets of a Summer Night, my only real drawback being the secondary storyline with the heroine’s mother. It Happened One Autumn was a step in the wrong direction for me, while the individual characters of Lillian and Westcliff worked I was bored during the first half and had serious reservations about the characterization of Sebastian, Lord St. Vincent. Trusting our other romance readers, I kept […]
