I would not have read this book if not for PattyKates

September 3, 2017 by Malin Leave a Comment

3.5 stars (one half star for really surprising me) After Parker Cruse found her boyfriend in bed with her twin sister, and said boyfriend went on to marry her twin, Parker has nothing but contempt for cheaters. She’s also not really on speaking terms with her sister or brother-in-law after dosing her sister with laxatives during the wedding. Having initially planned to go follow her boyfriend to college, her plans for the future were derailed for a while. Now she’s moved out of her parents’ house […]

The Most Interesting Romance of the Year (Not Best)

September 3, 2017 by Mrs. Julien 5 Comments

Winner of Most Interesting Romance of the year, though not the best, I recommend When Life Happened for a change of pace, especially if you can get your friends to read it too for discussion purposes. Parker is lost and trying to figure out a way forward with her life. After her sister “stole” and proceeded to marry Parker’s fiance – and Parker ridiculously dosed her with laxatives at the wedding – she needs a change. When her new neighbour is seeking a personal assistant, […]

Who Is This Romance Cover for Exactly?

September 2, 2017 by Mrs. Julien 4 Comments

Prostitution plots are the exception to my preference for marriage of convenience stories and Escorted features the first one I have read in  long time. There are some interesting ideas in this contemporary romance novel, but despite the rounds of contemplation about the oldest profession it inspired in me, Escorted wasn’t really anything special. Lori is a bestselling romance author in her mid-twenties who, despite her facility for writing about it, has never actually had sex. Eager to get her first time over with, she has gotten […]

It’s all part of her rock and roll fantasy

August 14, 2017 by Mikki Blu Leave a Comment

I’m sure we’ve all that fantasy that if we meet the celebrity crush of our dreams, that he/she would be instantly smitten and you’d ride off into the sunset together for the lusty happily ever after.  That is basically the plot of this book.  Hazel has just turned 30, has a hot chef boyfriend (Wylie) and the job of her dreams working for a video game company.   Already she has it made, but she’s always had a big crush on rock god Finn of […]

Widow author and bad boy rock star – the book is really good!

August 10, 2017 by Malin Leave a Comment

Kate Mosely is a widow living alone and rather lonely in the little town of Crowell, Montana. She more or less runs the local newspaper she inherited from her father (with help from his old business partner), but her small claim to fame is writing a novel that’s become a bestseller, much thanks to her persistent and aggressive literary agent, Stephen. Now, hoping to create more buzz for the book, as well as spurring Kate into writing a second novel, he’s booked her on several […]

A dream wrapped in razor wire or razor wire wrapped in a dream

July 27, 2017 by Malin Leave a Comment

4.5 stars To everyone who knows her, Waverly Camdenmar appears to be pretty much perfect. She is intelligent, successful, one of the most popular girls in school (thanks to her Machiavellian scheming on behalf of her best friend, whom she’s pretty sure she doesn’t even like anymore). Said best friend keeps referring to her as a robot or android, but thanks to her, Waverly fits in. No one knows that nearly every night, Waverly battles insomnia and runs until her feet bleed. She also fears […]
