When Josh Met Ari…

You, Again by Kate Goldbeck

February 3, 2024 by Malin Leave a Comment

Nowhere Book Bingo: Starts with J, K, Q, U, V, W, X, Y or Z Ari and Josh first meet and develop an intense dislike of one another when Josh arrives at the apartment where Ari is staying, to cook a meal for his girlfriend, who happens to be Ari’s roommate and occasional hook-up. Ari likes to keep things very casual, never spends the night with her hook-ups and is trying to make it as a stand-up comedian. Josh is quite neurotic, a trained chef, […]

Out Hallmarking Hallmark

Christmas Wish List by N.R. Walker

January 30, 2024 by Mrs. Julien 3 Comments

I reviewed the other three books in the Hartbridge Christmas (read: Hallmark Christmas movie) series and, honestly, there’s just no pleasing me. They were fine. I buy N.R. Walker for fine. It’s what she does. Everyone is lovely. Everything is tidy but, as I said out loud whilst reading (slogging through? sleading?) Christmas Wish List, “it’s just so tepid,”. But that’s not quite the issue. Let me explain. The Hartbridge Christmas Series: Tic-Tac-Mistletoe WE ARE HERE: Christmas Wish List Merry Christmas Cupid Holiday Heart Strings Chef […]

A Hartbridge Too Far

Tic-Tac-Mistletoe by N.R. Walker

Merry Christmas Cupid by N.R. Walker

Holiday Heart Strings by N.R. Walker

January 22, 2024 by Mrs. Julien 4 Comments

N.R. Walker writes books about nice men falling in love. Generally, they have some scars or trauma but their love stories proceed apace without sturm and drang. It’s really nice. Walker’s nice. She writes nice books.   She’s Carla Kelly without the historical elements and with less strong writing skills. The world is basically kind and people will surprise you . This is something to be encouraged. I bought all  four books in Walker’s Hartbridge Christmas series and read three. I’m happy to give Walker my money […]

A lovely, sex-positive, sex-heavy but asexual friendly start to the year.

Business or Pleasure by Rachel Lynn Solomon

January 2, 2024 by narfna 2 Comments

A quite pleasing book to open the year on, although I am a bit sad it wasn’t five stars, since this was one of my five-star predictions from a several months ago. OH WELL. The sex lessons trope can be so good when done well, and it was done very very well here. Our main character is Chandler—a ghostwriter and former journalist who is still trying to find herself in her early thirties. She takes a ghostwriting job for an actor who is famous for […]

Midnight Duet by Jen Comfort

A trio of romances featuring a rockstar, small town angst, and magical cooking

Midnight Duet by Jen Comfort

Georgie, All Along by Kate Clayborn

Basil and Oregano by Melissa Capriglione

December 31, 2023 by teresaelectro 4 Comments

CBR15 Passport Challenge: New to you Authors – Jen Comfort, Kate Clayborn, and Melissa Capriglione Midnight Duet by Jen Comfort is a gender-flipped remix of Phantom of the Opera. Erika Greene seemingly had it all when taking on a lead Broadway role. She was a bit of a minx and slept with someone’s boyfriend, which led to a production light falling on her. She retreats to her family’s dilapidated opera house in Paris, Nevada, and vows to become a better person. She had a decent plastic surgeon […]
