After Watching Logan This Weekend…Perfect Balm for All Those Feelings

March 6, 2017 by Classic Leave a Comment

If you haven’t watched the movie Logan yet, look away! The character we follow in this All New Wolverine issue is Laura. We get to see her as she steps up to be the new Wolverine, while still being mentored by our Logan (who is now gone). In this first issue, we see that Laura has doubts about who she is and what she is doing. She feels like a monster and just a killing machine. When she gets knocked out, she apparently gets some […]

Watch out boy she’ll chew you up!

Junko Mizuno is a Japanese artist whose style is usually described as “Gothic kawaii”. Her illustrations are cute and childish but also erotic and grotesque. After Cinderalla and Hansel and Gretel, Princess Mermaid is her third and darkest retelling of a classic fairytale, and the one that differs the most from the original version (I’m referring to the Hans Christian Andersen story, not the sanitized Disney version). Princess Mermaid tells the story of three mermaid sisters who have sworn to avenge the death of their […]

Not as Bad as 47 Ronin (Keanu Version) But Not Great Either

February 9, 2017 by Classic 16 Comments

Volume 3 combines Old Man Logan #9-13. For once I am a bit miffed by the money I spent. This was not worth $9.99. Well this was a bit of a letdown from the previous volumes. I feel like I grew up reading about Wolverine’s adventures in Japan. It would have been nice if it was a new location and/or the X-Men or Avengers came along for the ride. So after volume 2 I thought Logan would adjust to the fact that the Fall of […]

Not as Poignant at Volume 1

February 8, 2017 by Classic Leave a Comment

So I liked this volume a little less than vol. 1. That is mainly because Lady Deathstrike has always been my least favorite foe of Wolverine and the shoe-horn of another comic from Uncanny X-Men that did not match the style and color scheme of the previous issues. It really felt tacked on and I wish they left it out. Vol. 2. collects Old Man Logan #5-8 and Uncanny X-Men #205. Now that Logan realizes that he is in a different time before the fall […]

Loved This Take on Old Man Logan

February 8, 2017 by Classic Leave a Comment

I have so many questions as I finished Volume 1. First off, the art was fantastic. The turmoil of Logan was palpable through the pages. And this comic was gritty and graphic in a lot of places. I maybe got a stomach ache a few times based on what I was reading. All in all though, great job by Jeff Lemire! This volume collects Old Man Logan (2016) issues #1-4. There is a lot going on in this volume, but I was able to follow […]

Secrets Finally Revealed (About Freaking Time!)

February 8, 2017 by Classic Leave a Comment

Finally! We finally find out what the heck is going on. What caused the rift between Jessica. Why did she go to jail? Why is Misty acting like a stalking fool and talking crap about Jessica? Okay that last one we don’t get an answer to, but I was so over Misty that I am hoping Iron Fist shows up and is all so baby, are we not a thing anymore?  I have no idea what she is doing besides acting like Jessica cannot and […]
