Mutants v. Inhumans – Wha’happen?

Uncanny X-Men: Superior - IVX (Volume 4) by Cullen Bunn

Extraordinary X-Men - IVX (Volume 4) by Jeff Lemire

All-New X-Men: Inevitable - IVX (Volume 4) by Dennis Hopeless

These are some graphic novels detailing some outlying stories surrounding the main X-Men vs. Inhumans comic event from 2016(?) (see https://www.amazon.com/Inhumans-vs-X-Men/dp/1302906534). Honestly, not a lot of irreplacable information here. None of the books provide a complete story, and even taken together as a whole, provide a spotty story of the tragedy that was the destruction of New Attilan. Both All-New and Uncanny X-Men volumes contain that series’ annual (#1) and both Extraordinary and All-New X-Men volumes contain X-Men Prime #1. If I had to pick […]

I’m just a soul whose intentions are good…

The Delinquent Housewife! 1 by Nemu Yoko (translated by David Musto)

January 16, 2019 by pluiedenovembre 1 Comment

Komugi and Tohru are young newlyweds (or about to get married? I’m not entirely sure) who move in with his family while they find their own place. Tohru’s family – mom, grandpa, brother Dai and sister Yukari – are warm and welcoming (except Yukari) and eager to make Komugi feel like part of the family. For her part, Komugi is sweet and helpful and just generally delighted to be part of the family. Just as everyone is starting to get comfortable with the new living […]

Narwhal and Jellyfish have delightful adventures – CBR10 Bingo: Award Winner

October 6, 2018 by Dome'Loki 4 Comments

My 6 year old daughter LOVES narwhals and was thrilled when Grandma gave her Narwhal: Unicorn of the Sea. It is a Will Eisner award winning graphic novel and marks off the “Award Winner” bingo square!  The book is made of three stories in which a happy go lucky narwhal and a no nonsense jellyfish learn about friendship, working together, and the power of imagination. One day a narwhal finds itself in strange waters and encounters a creature it has never seen before, a jellyfish.  The […]

Origins of Gotham

August 28, 2018 by Jake Leave a Comment

I’m a hardcore urbanite. I love cities, real and imaginary. There’s just something about masses of humanity drawn to an area with gaudy structures and richly envisioned neighborhoods. I can’t live too far from a city or I’ll lose my mind. I’m not a big comics guy. If I had a favorite, it’d be Batman, simply because he has no superpowers and has to rely on his training and wits. But also, Batman has always defended Gotham City and I find Gotham City to be […]

Nerd Love

October 9, 2017 by Lynn Leave a Comment

Well, this book was adorable. Unabashed comic book geek Graham has been in love with his across the alley neighbor Roxana since she moved in when she was eight and asked him which Hogwart’s house he belonged to. They’ve grown up together, they write comics together, and spend almost every waking moment together. But Roxy has no idea how Graham truly feels about her, so Graham cooks up a plan to reveal his feelings at New York Comic Con, and not just at Comic Con, […]

How many ways can I say this is awesome?

July 17, 2017 by crystalclear 1 Comment

Lobster Is the Best Medicine is the second book I have by the awesomeness that is Liz Climo, the first being The Little World of Liz Climo.  It’s a collection of comics, this time all about friendship.  All of the comics are either one or two panels, so they’re all really short.  So if you don’t have a lot of time, you could read one or two.  If you have a longer amount of time, say 15 or 20 minutes, you could read the whole […]
