Deck the Halls

The Christmas Party by Karen Swan

December 8, 2022 by Zirza Leave a Comment

On a cold winter night on Ireland’s west coast, Declan Lorne, the last Lord of Ireland, throws a lavish party at his magnificent castle. The location is wonderful, the guests are old friends who all know each other, the atmosphere is great. But before the night is out he dies, leaving behind his bereft wife, three twentysomething daughters and a dilapidated estate with no money to fix it. The next unpleasant surprise comes when his will is read: he leaves the estate not to his […]

It made Felix feel good to know the man who so tirelessly championed their past apparently had people in his present, too.

Felix Navidad by ‘Nathan Burgoine

November 22, 2022 by Emmalita 2 Comments

I saw this on NetGalley a couple of days after I raved about ‘Nathan Burgoine’s Handmade Holidays in the HEAforTransKids’ Winter Wonderland bundle. I requested it immediately. Burgoine is one of my new favorite, will read everything they’ve written authors. Felix Navidad lived up to the hype I gave it, while also being more than I anticipated. Felix is a nurse who works with clients in their homes. He became a nurse after experiencing the positive impact a nurse could have on patients and families […]

That’s not sparkle. It’s rage-glitter.

The Twelve Dates of Christmas by Jenny Bayliss

CBR14 BINGO: Holiday square (BINGO! Cold to Holiday BINGO! Gaslight to Elephant. BLACKOUT!!!) (Christmas romance is about as holiday as you can get, I think, and a great way to hit the bingo blackout.) I love holiday romance movies. All of them. I can snort-laugh while I wrap presents when half watching the really terrible ones. I can snuggle up on the couch under my twinkle lights and fall right into the good ones. I can hunt down and bookmark the 10 or so that I have to watch every […]

If the Grinch meet Frosty the Snowman there would be Fox

Hello, Tree by Alistair Heim

July 15, 2022 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

cbr14bingo Holiday Level 1 & 2 Ho Ho Ho! And big barrel of trouble!  Fox in this rhyming Christmas tail, um…tale is a modern-day Grinch. Only after his heart grew, but he is stealing… (No, really! It makes sense really, just read this picture book!) Hello, Tree by Alistair Heim is a holiday book through and through. It has holiday images on the cover, the story is a rhyming text about all the wonderful holiday things seen in the town. The text itself is terribly […]

Christmas in June

Christmas Romance by Catherine Hart, Betina Krahn, Linda Ladd, Barbara Dawson Smith, Katherine Sutcliffe

June 6, 2022 by Pooja Leave a Comment

Because why not kick off the summer with Christmas romances? A Christmas Melodie (Catherine Hart) – 2.5 stars Melodie is a mail order bride on her way out to Colorado, but when she is snowed in with a handsome widower and his four children, she gets rather side-tracked. I found Melodie likable, but the hero David to be rather annoying with how pushy he was. I also didn’t love that a child-free heroine ended up changing her mind merely on a few days acquaintance with […]

Christmas in March? not the most ridiculous thing re: this book

How the Dukes Stole Christmas by Tessa Dare, Sarah MacLean, Sophie Jordan, Joanna Shupe

May 30, 2022 by wicherwill Leave a Comment

Wow like, I will suspend disbelief for books but like these stories were R I D I C U L O U S. I was also really jonesing for some historical romance (especially after reading bits of, and then re-reading all of Lord Perfect) but I think I have utterly gotten over that desire after sort of forcing myself to read these four short stories. I have read, I think, longer novels written by each of these authors. Maybe not Sophie Jordan? But definitely Tessa Dare […]
