I ended up liking this book quite a bit. It was a tiny bit rocky for me at first—it felt like it was falling into some first novel traps—but by the end I was really into it, and I’m definitely finishing out the trilogy. Wow. This book absolutely knocked my socks off. Much as you’d expect from a book loosely based on 1001 Nights, it’s a story about stories, about the stories we tell about ourselves and how they can constrain us or free us.
