Cover of Charlotte Stein’s Dealing With a Desperate Demon

A Very Horny Ode to Kindness

Dealing With a Desperate Demon by Charlotte Stein

October 6, 2025 by Emmalita 3 Comments

While I was reading Charlotte Stein’s Dealing with a Desperate Demon, I had a few conversations about the way unkindness is being rewarded socially and politically and how we combat that. And then I would dive back into Desperate Demon and feel wrapped in kindness again. This book is about being kind, being soft, and because it’s a Charlotte Stein romance, being very horny. When Nancy was a child, she wrote stories and things happened. Her father hated the stories she wrote and the things […]

Tale as old as time…

Dealing with a Desperate Demon by Charlotte Stein

May 5, 2025 by NatalieH 3 Comments

I read Charlotte Stein’s How to Help a Hungry Werewolf earlier this year and was very surprised by how much I liked it. The basic description isn’t something I’d normally vibe with (women falling for men that bullied them due to werewolf mating shenanigans is kind of an ick), but it was actually Emmalita’s review that piqued my interest in reading it. I’m glad I did, because it wasn’t at all what I expected and something about Stein’s writing (it’s very dialogue heavy) really worked […]

Cover of Charlotte Stein’s My Big Fat Fake Marriage

“Because I don’t like it when people try to crush something good in the world. There’s too little of it as it is. Too much horrible stuff that people could hate instead. Why don’t they just hate that instead?”

Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the audio ARC. It hasn’t affected the contents of my review. I think this will be the last book I read by this author for some time, so take my review with a grain of salt. I love Charlotte Stein’s authorial voice, and this book was no exception. She can also be extremely hilarious, and has made me giggle and laugh out loud in all three books I’ve now read from her. But a couple things that seem […]

Cover of Charlotte Stein’s My Big Fat Fake Marriage

He constantly reminds me of a dark-haired Steve Rogers, not entirely grasping that Hooters isn’t really just a hot wings place.

My Big Fat Fake Marriage by Charlotte Stein

Ahhhhhhh! I loved My Big Fat Fake Marriage! It is so delightfully bonkers, and sweet, and filthy. Charlotte Stein has become an auto-buy author for me. Her books are so joyful while also digging into very relatable anxieties. Connie has a lot of experience with the modern London Nice Guy, and she knows better than to trust a nice guy. Her neighbor, Beck, is just so nice. He says “howdy neighbor” and leaves her pies that he baked himself. Beck is so nice that Connie is […]

Don’t say what the heck at me as if what I said is so absurd, Seth. Yesterday you told me vampires exist. I watched your face grow fifty extra bones and a thousand more teeth.

How to Help a Hungry Werewolf by Charlotte Stein

December 17, 2024 by Emmalita 3 Comments

Charlotte Stein’s How to Help a Hungry Werewolf is one of the horniest books I have ever read. It is incredibly innocent and filthy at the same time. I laughed and I blushed. I also felt like this book was written just for me, which has made it very difficult to review. Cassie Camberwell doesn’t know she’s a witch until she inherits her grandmother’s house, meets her ex-best friend again, finds a notebook with recipes and brews up a potion. And it turns out that […]

All I did was phone you. Then be in the same restaurant as you. Then watch you from across a crowded coffee place. Then follow you down a street when it’s getting dark and there’s no one else around and oh okay right yeah I’m seeing it now yep it’s dawning on me…

When Grumpy Met Sunshine by Charlotte Stein

February 6, 2024 by Emmalita 9 Comments

I don’t even know how to talk about this book. One of the things I loved best about it was the way Charlotte Stein used words to illuminate her characters, but I’m reading an advance reader copy so I’m not supposed to quote from it. I’m going to have to share a quote though because otherwise I’m just going to blather a bunch of dumb words at you. She saw it happen, almost immediately. All in one big rush, like he couldn’t contain it. Her […]
