Omnis Vir Lupus.

I really wish I was able to tell you that I loved this book. That it was as good as the first two entries in its trilogy, Red Rising and Golden Son. I wish I was going to sit here and tell you to run out and read this RIGHT NOW, to put everything else aside, and to get lost in the world of Reaper and Sevro for a while. But I’m not able to do that. Sorry. Yes, you should definitely read this if you read and […]

The Lady Prefers a Lawyer

March 9, 2016 by Mikki Blu 4 Comments

This is a book I’d been waiting to read for some time, and unlike other recent new books by favorite authors, this one didn’t disappoint!  Lady Clara Fairfax is the woman who lost the heart of the Duke of Clevedon in book one of the series, and she’s made minor appearances in the other books following.  At last, this is her story.  Even though she lost the duke, she gained a fashion stylist of the times in Marcelline Noirot, now Clevedon’s wife.  Clara was transformed […]

She Has a Blow Hole!

March 9, 2016 by Melina 6 Comments

I picked up this snappily titled free book fully expecting to hate-read it, but I found that I didn’t actually hate it.  I even posted the blurb on fb and dared people to read it (all smug like).  But no one took me up on my jerky offer so I had to do it myself.  And you know what?  It offered everything the title said:  I got love,  I got lattes, and I was introduced to a mutant (in the form of a dolphgirl–yup, half […]

I Got On This Train Too

March 9, 2016 by sarah_jwh 2 Comments

This review is for the audiobook version of The Girl On The Train. I’ve had mixed feelings about this book. I had to stop listening to it because the narrators were getting on my nerves, but then picked it back up to try again. They still bothered me, but the story got better, and the end was somehow both exciting and predictable simultaneously. As others have noted, the narrators are all unreliable, as are the accounts we get from those they interact with. This novel […]

Journal of Meh

March 8, 2016 by Melina Leave a Comment

Sarah Gladstone knew a bad storm was coming and so she goes to stay with her mother in the small town of Sunbury.  The storm turned out to be worse than expected and the town is cut off from the outside world with floods, downed trees, no electricity or cell towers.  This is key because during the clean up, they learn that someone has broken into the priest’s home, tossed the place and the priest is nowhere to be found.  However, journals–tons of them are […]

The One Everyone Seems to Like the Most

March 7, 2016 by Walking Widdershins Leave a Comment

I think the consensus is that of all the Star Wars movies, this one is the best? It’s been a while since I watched, so I can neither confirm nor deny that. However, my seven-year-old loves this one so much, we just bought the sheets and duvet. I remember having “A New Hope” sheets, back when the movie was just called “Star Wars.” The book has a prologue that fills in a little bit of the action following the Battle of Yavin (that’s the one […]
