Year of Crime Book 1 As we all know, Linwood and I, we go back a bit. Lately, things have been a little rocky between us, with a duff novel followed up by an absolute rip roaring one. So when it came to this one, I was all “which camp will it fall into?” As it turns out, it fell smack dab between those two stools. Our protagonist hero is Cal Weaver, a private investigator whose life is looking pretty bleak. His marriage is failing […]
A historical romance with a revenge plot
No one ever expected Julian Fortescue to end up becoming a Duke, least of all himself. But after a series of tragic accidents, illnesses and old age kills off most of his male relatives, Julian finds himself as Duke of Denford. As this book begins, he is also actually a wealthy man, having come to a settlement with all of his relatives that means he has the money to support himself in style. This doesn’t escape the notice of his dear mother, who promtly arrives […]
Ignite: Book Two of the Defy Series
Last year, when I finished reading Defy, I really hoped that it would be the start of a series because I wanted to know what happened once everyone knew Alexa’s secret. My wish came true, and Ignite is a fantastic follow-up that once again left me wanting more.
A historical romance with an absolute tool for a hero

Unfortunately, Townsend had even more of a drinking and gambling problem than Damian and promptly lost the property to someone else. Damian is forced to return to his father, hanging his head in shame, promising to do whatever it takes to reform and help re-purchase the property. […]
On Genius
I am very grateful to Cannonballer Mathildehoeg for sending me On Beauty as part of the holiday book exchange. I’ve been wanting to read more of Zadie Smith’s work since reviewing White Teeth a couple of Cannonballs ago. Everything about Smith’s work is so superbly done, so sublime, that I feel ridiculous trying to review it. I’m no writer and have no aspirations to be a writer; I am a grateful reader who simply doesn’t have the words or facility of expression to do justice […]
Fighting On All Fronts
I was cautiously hopeful as I hadn’t read very much of his other work aside from the Star Wars novels, and I was curious to see how Mr. Zahn would set about creating a brand-new world. I can happily say that he did not disappoint.
