I don’t think two single consenting adults hooking up are misbehaving all that much

April 29, 2015 by Malin Leave a Comment

3.5 stars Having really enjoyed Along Came Trouble, I wanted to check out more of Ruthie Knox’ Camelot series, and as they are extremely reasonably priced (this, for instance is only $0.99), I went out and bought the entire thing. This novella is a sort of prequel, showing how Amber, Caleb (the hero in Along Came Trouble)’s older sister met her husband Tony. Amber Clark is your quintessential good girl, working as a program director at the Camelot Community Centre, spending quiet nights in the […]

If only all trouble came in such attractive packages

April 29, 2015 by Malin Leave a Comment

Disclaimer! I was given a free copy of this through NetGalley in return for a fair and honest review. Single mother and entertainment lawyer Ellen Callahan just wants to live a quiet life, which is not as easy after her twin brother, an international pop superstar, fell in love with and was photographed spending time with her pregnant next-door neighbour. Now she keeps having to throw paparazzi off her lawn, which is vexing, to be sure, but it’s not like she needs a bodyguard. Her […]

Psst: There Is No Secret in This Contemporary Romance

April 29, 2015 by Mrs. Julien 2 Comments

I have reviewed the rest of the Beautiful series by writing duo Christina Lauren in an ongoing post, but since the tone of this latest entry was something different, I decided to review it by itself. To get caught up, this is the series thus far (8 books, 4 couples): Beautiful Bastard Beautiful Bitch Beautiful Stranger Beautiful Bombshell Beautiful Player Beautiful Beginning Beautiful Beloved Beautiful Secret  – Let’s begin shall we? Ruby is an engineering intern at a London firm. An American living abroad, she […]

The safe cracker and the nerdy secret agent

April 28, 2015 by Malin 6 Comments

Five years ago, Angel Ramirez gave up safe-cracking and stealing and swore to mend her ways, sick of hurting and using people. She’s been working hard to stay on the straight and narrow, making a living as an interior decorator, trying to earn the forgiveness of her disappointed family members. When the woman Angel considers as close as a real aunt is kidnapped, and the ransom demanded is the hoard of diamonds belonging to notorious gangster Walter Borgola, Angel has no choice but to reunite […]

“If I was afraid of dying, I couldn’t do half of the shit I do.”

April 28, 2015 by Malin 3 Comments

This is the third and final book in the Paradox series. It really won’t make a whole lot of sense or be particularly satisfying if you haven’t read the first two books in the trilogy. Start at the beginning with Fortune’s Pawn. It’s a really fun, action-packed series with great world building., so if you like space adventure, you are unlikely to regret it. It also goes without saying that there may be spoilers for the previous books in the series in this review. Proceed […]

Secret Electricity Seems Like Scary Electricity

April 27, 2015 by Melina Leave a Comment

I used to be a Stephen King junkie around 5th-8th grade.  Seriously, one summer I stayed up every night until about 3 am reading by flashlight (and ruining my damn eyes) so that I could finish IT (I still remember the crushing feeling of disappointment at the end of that novel for me…but that’s ok, I read something else and I was sated). I’ve always continued to like Stephen King but I haven’t actively sought out any of his newer books (aside from Joyland and […]
