A fun new comics discovery

December 25, 2015 by Malin Leave a Comment

Kamala Khan is a pretty ordinary geeky teenager from Jersey City, until she’s suddenly given the extraordinary powers of the superhero Ms. Marvel. She’s both excited and confused. Can a Muslim girl even be a superhero? She certainly feels that the outfit could be a bit less revealing. How is she going to combine the responsibilities of fighting crime, rescuing people and righting wrongs if she also has to worry about obeying her parents and keeping cerfew? Before she’s even entirely aware what she’s doing, […]

A historical romance with seasonal cheer

December 25, 2015 by Malin Leave a Comment

3.5 stars After Miss Louisa Oliver broke her betrothal to Viscount Matheson, her step-sister and former intended was subjected to quite a scandal, due to the gossipping ways of Matheson’s friend, the dissolute Alexander Edgware, Lord Xavier. Matheson and Louisa’s step-sister got married, and the scandal passed, but Xavier isn’t really a favourite in the Oliver or Matheson family circles any more. So when Louisa, with her formidable aunt as chaperone,  receives an invitation to his house party, rumoured to be quite a raucous event, […]

Christmas come early! Thank you, Bonnie!

December 24, 2015 by Malin 3 Comments

Yesterday was rather a stressful day for me. I had to go to hospital and have my stitches removed, I had to get a couple of last minute Christmas presents in absolutely heaving stores (Christmas is celebrated on the 24th in Norway), I lost my wallet out of one of my bulging shopping bags on my way home and had to call the bank to block my bank cards (although a lovely lady called me and had found the wallet, so I got that back […]

The Hans Christian Anderson classic is updated and spun into a Christmas story

December 24, 2015 by TylerDFC 3 Comments

With Matchless I’m at review 52! CANNONBALL! I don’t expect to do this again, I had to sacrifice longer novels for shorter ones to meet the goal and stretch with some graphic novels at the end but I’m satisfied with my reviews and enjoyed the challenge of pushing myself to stay on a reading and writing schedule. Apologies to my work for the countless lunch hours (and sometimes beyond) spent writing these up. On to review 52! Matchless began its life a spoken word performance […]

The most fun you’ll have hating your antagonist

December 24, 2015 by KatSings Leave a Comment

Prince of Thorns – Reviewed on KatsCannon “Hate will keep you alive where love fails” I don’t know what possessed me, in the lead up to Christmas, to read this book in particular. Nor what motivated me to keep reading when I realized just how dark it is. However, I’m not upset that I did, even if it was an awfully dark, twisted sort of story to read in the holiday season. I will tell you, this book is *not* going to appeal to everyone. […]
