Who would you be if you couldn’t remember who you were?

December 29, 2015 by Loopyker Leave a Comment

Memory is a teenager who awakens in a land of magic with no idea who or where she is. She is quickly discovered by another girl, Eloryn and together they flee some chasing men who have a dragon at their command. The action in this story starts right away and keeps going. The two find friends and more enemies along the way as they try to figure out who Memory is, while Eloryn works to save her country from an evil King. As a long-time […]

Some fun with the Medieval Murderers

December 28, 2015 by Walking Widdershins Leave a Comment

There is a series of these books (I think I’ve already covered one of them) all basically containing short mysteries written by authors who specialize in different parts of the Medieval era. Each story/mystery revolves around a common theme or idea. In this book, all the stories center on a relic – a piece of the true cross. Oh, and a murder or two. Or are they? (Murders, that is). The relic starts out in Jerusalem in 1100, during the Crusades. It makes its way […]

A woman holding a sword stands back to back with a man in a duster wearing glasses and holding a laser blaster. Over their heads is the title: Revisionary with the subtitle Magic Ex Libris Book Four beneath. At the bottom left is the author's name: Jim C. Hines

Reading is Fundamental: Magic Ex Libris Book 4

Revisionary is the fourth and final book in Jim C. Hines’ Magic Ex Libris series, and the short version of this review is: this is a satisfying ending that still leaves a Whole Lot of Room in the Libriomancer universe if Jim ever decides to come back to it. The long version is behind the cut because SPOILERS.

A delightful little picture book

December 26, 2015 by Malin 2 Comments

Princess Pinecone wants to be a warrior and get cool trophies or weapons, but instead she tends to get big fuzzy sweaters. For her birthday this year, what she wants the more than anything is a horse. A big, brave, strong horse. A warrior horse, fit for the warrior princess that she is. Her parents really do try, but instead, she gets a pony. A little round, yellow pony who likes to eat pretty much everything and fart a lot. Princess Pinecone valiantly tries to […]

Here be dragons

December 26, 2015 by Malin 1 Comment

Once again I want to thank the lovely Mrs. Julien, whose generous gift of an Amazon voucher made it possible for me to buy this book. NFL player Ethan “Dex” Dexter is known to his friends and team mates as “the Wise One”. He’s quiet, observant, focused on his career and not really concerned with dating, or really all that bothered about the fact that he’s still a virgin at 24. The only woman he’s interested in is the bubbly and vivacious Fiona Mackenzie, sister-in-law […]
