I Am Not Impressed

A Keeper by Graham Norton

July 4, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

Please note that I received this book via NetGalley. This did not affect my rating or review. This book will be released on August 13, 2019.  I tend to wait at least a day after finishing a book to post a review, but I am highly annoyed right now and just want to put this book behind me. I maybe at one point while reading this ARC said are you serious and then started muttering to myself about just DNFing it. I don’t like to […]

Solid Entry in the World of Kinsey Millhone

K is for Killer by Sue Grafton

July 4, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

Sigh. I needed a comfort read and even though I have read this book many many times, I was happy to re-read it again. I have this book in hardcover so it was perfect to read as I sat by the pool on Sunday afternoon. Grafton takes Kinsey through the nightlife in Santa Teresa. She feels adrift as she investigates who could have killed Lorna Kepler. With Henry being away visiting his siblings she feels even more adrift. I liked how Grafton chose to end […]

What a Waste of Time

Void Moon by Michael Connelly

July 4, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

I don’t want to even see the word “void” for a month. It’s repeated throughout this book and also moons are shown. I just wanted to finish this so I could count it to Horror Aficionados ABC Challenge. If it wasn’t for that, I would have DNFed this thing on Sunday. “Void Moon” follows Cassie Black. Cassie we find out through a long winding road is an ex-felon. She decides to take one last heist in order to get enough funds to kidnap her daughter […]

Rich People Problems and One Person Who Wasn’t

Carnegie Hill by Johnathan Vatner

July 4, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

Please note that I received this book via NetGalley. This did not affect my rating or review. This book will be released on August 20, 2019.  How was this tagged as a romance? I guess train-wreck was too on point. Seriously though, I ended up loathing 99 percent of the characters in this book. Even the one person I didn’t loathe, I seriously disliked because he outed someone. I am surprised this wasn’t an Oprah Book Pick since every time she loves a book I […]

A Thoughtful Romance

The Flastshare by Beth O'Leary

July 4, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

Wow. I don’t know what to say about this one. I read the synopsis as I was looking for something to read and wondered if this book was going to be worth the $13.99 price tag. I tend to not buy if I haven’t read the author before, but just plunged right away. Have to say that I am very glad that I did so. O’Leary doesn’t just give us a romance, she gives us something that I think will resonate with a lot of […]

I enjoyed this book, despite the fact that I forgot all about it

War of the Spheres by BV Larson and James Millington

July 4, 2019 by ingres77 Leave a Comment

I first came across BV Larson a year ago, and wrote a 4,500 word review of his Undying Mercenaries series. While I enjoyed the books, I had some fairly serious problems with his characters and thought there may some underlying issues with Larson’s worldview. But I wasn’t sure how much of what I was picking up on was an actual indication of Larson’s thoughts, and how much was just fairly shallow writing about shallow people. Having read something else of his, I think I may […]
