Monsters know when they are recognized..

Cari Mora by Thomas Harris

The psychological profiling and tracking of serial killers in books, television and film is extremely interesting to me. The first book that I encountered along those lines was “Silence of the Lambs” and I devoured all of the prequels and sequels to that book as they came out. FBI agents’ freaky ability to get into a serial killer’s head and predict what, where, when and how is FASCINATING. Walking that very thin line between having a healthy mind and one that can process the mind […]

Pirates Don't Go to Kindergarten by Lisa Robinson

I have no idea how to write a review of a book when the number of words required in the review are longer than the number of words in the book itself…

Times up for death. He’s been handed his notice and he now has a little hourglass counting down the days till he will go. So he does what anyone might do, he quits his job and decides to go traveling. He travels exactly to where miss Flitworth needs a farmhand on her lonely farm. So he becomes a harvester. Meanwhile all the life that was supposed to run out, lingers on in the world causing all sorts of problems; especially for one Windle Poons who […]

Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Nora Roberts-fied

Year One by Nora Roberts

Of Blood and Bone by Nora Roberts

CBR11 #2: Year One by Nora Roberts My first Nora Roberts! The two books were a gift from my friend who’s a huge Nora Roberts fan, and she thought Year One could be a good entry point because I’m a real sucker for dystopia fiction. It starts out with a family vacation in Scotland, when a peasant is shot and falls right in the middle of a stone circle, and its blood seeps into the frosted ground. What appears to be a regular hunting expedition turns deadly […]

The Cricket in Times Square by George Selden

June 29, 2019 by KimMiE" Leave a Comment

I’ve been wanting to re-read The Cricket in Times Square for a couple of years now, but I was a little nervous because I remember loving it as a child. Revisiting a book or a movie that you remember fondly from years past is always a little risky; I’m glad I took a chance in this case, because “adult me” found this book just as delightful as “kid me” did. The story is about a cricket named Chester who, after accidentally stowing away in a […]

Daisy Jones and The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

June 28, 2019 by Leedock Leave a Comment

Another of Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine Book Club picks strikes again. This is definitely a page turner and a great summer read. Might I also recommend having some good 60’s rock ‘n roll playing in the background as well? Sit under the umbrella or with an umbrella in your cocktail and enjoy. The basic plot here is pretty straight forward. A band from Pittsburgh called The Six and a singer songwriter named Daisy Jones come together to record a duet and the rest is history. […]
