The importance of choosing and being chosen in return

June 6, 2018 by Malin 6 Comments

I was very kindly granted an ARC of this book in return for an unbiased review. I had already pre-ordered the book when I was given the ARC. The book is on sale now, and I recommend that you buy it. This is the second novel in The Worth Saga. While it might work fine as a stand alone book, I would recommend beginning with the first book in the series, Once Upon a Marquess, to get a better idea of whom all the various supporting characters from […]

If Gaslight and Single White Female had a baby.

I admit to judging  books by their covers. Generally, that pans out for me. This one had a great cover  AND a promising teaser from Joyce Carol Oates: As if Donna Tartt, Gillian Flynn, and Patricia Highsmith had collaborated on a screenplay to be filmed by Hitchcock-suspenseful and atmospheric. Did you read the same book as me Joyce? In fairness, there is a bit of Tartt, Flynn and Hitchock in here, but only the worst parts. I can’t speak to Highsmith, but the navel gazing  […]

This ain’t no party. This ain’t no disco. This ain’t no fooling around.

I am ashamed to admit, that although I have read pretty much every single word ever published by Stephen King, and most of Joe Hill, and even some of Owen King, I had honestly never even considered reading Tabitha King. It wasn’t until PattyKates wrote a review of One on One back in 2015 that I ever really even thought about reading Tabitha King. That review convinced me to order a used paperback copy, which then sat on my TBR shelf until last weekend. I […]

For those who love Paris

June 3, 2018 by KB 4 Comments

A very different book for me. I am currently enjoying crime/mystery/suspense novels. This one does not fall into those categories. This book is a mystery I guess, though not of the crime type. It is about a lady whose husband goes missing. She finds tickets her husband left for her to go to Paris with her daughters. The novel follows the wife and their two daughters as they move to Paris, run a bookstore and try to deal with the unknown surrounding the whereabouts of […]

No title can do this book justice.

I love love love this book! The Dry, by Jane Harper was absolutely fantastic and beautifully written. This book is just as good. Whilst it doesn’t contain the same beautiful descriptions of places and people, it excels in being a great mystery. This book is about a team building exercise where a group of guys and ladies head out to bond. All of the men return on time, the women are late back and one of them does not return. The mystery is around […]

Be careful who you talk to!

June 3, 2018 by KB Leave a Comment

I enjoyed reading this book. It is the first Roberta Kray book I have read, and I will certainly be reading a lot more! This basic concept of this text is that Sadie is looking for her ex husband so that she can get him to sign the divorce papers and move on with her life. Whilst on a train to where he is, she has a brief conversation with a lady named Mona. Mona strikes up a deal where she will get rid of […]
