Every book club should read this book!

July 23, 2018 by KB 2 Comments

What an amazing read!!  Every book club should read this book, for the book itself is wonderful but the question it poses will definitely have you wondering for days. Put simply, this is a book about four ladies who are in an online book club. They have never met apart from with their skype book blub sessions. They decide to actually meet up and spend a month together discussing books. For this extended book club meeting, they each need to bring four copies of a […]

Small Village Shenanigans

July 23, 2018 by KB Leave a Comment

Bricks and Mortality is a great easy read. It is set in a little village where an old abandoned house burns down, but a body is found within the remains. Who burnt it down? Who was the dead person? Why were they in the house? Throughout this story, Ann presents your stereotypical small village characters – the gossip, the disgruntled old man, the spoilt yet neglected rich kid and the two cops sent to sort it out. The characters are intriguing and have complex connections […]

This book made me want to strangle a fictional character. But it also made me want to get in better shape and listen to lots of INXS, so fair trade, I guess?

Somehow, this book ended up on my kindle. I don’t know if someone sent me an ARC of it, or if it was a free download somewhere that I forgot about. I really don’t remember where it came from. All I know is that last week, on vacation, I needed a quick and easy read for the beach, so I downloaded it. I mean, I’ve been the class mom many times. I know how annoying it can be. Teachers can be set in their ways, […]

An easy suspense read

July 22, 2018 by KB Leave a Comment

This is the third book I have read from Roberta Kray, and I can say that so far she has continued to be a consistent writer. Roberta is able to write easy to follow and understand, yet still detailed and enjoyable crime novels. Her characters are well developed, possibly a little stereotypical for some of the more ‘mob’ style characters. You end up becoming attached to them, even the more dubious ones. Roberta continues to have females as the lead character, which I rather enjoy. […]

A book that grabs your heart from the start and barely lets go!

July 21, 2018 by KB 1 Comment

Wow. Wow. Wow. Make sure you have a box of tissues ready and a few hours to spare. Grab a glass of wine or a big pot of tea because once you start this book you won’t want to stop. This book begins with a bang and doesn’t stop. This book has so far been one of the best that I have read this year. It is incredibly well written, ticking all of the boxes that I look for in a novel. Firstly, no fluff, […]

Prince – A Musical Genius

July 21, 2018 by KB Leave a Comment

Let me begin by saying that I am a massive Prince fan. There is no celebrity on the planet that I admire more. So I enjoy reading about Prince and finding out new information. I also am touch and go with reading biographies. I find they can be very well written, or appallingly written – there is nothing in between. I am very happy to say that this particular biography was well written. Rather than being a chronological recount of Prince’s life, each chapter instead […]
