This week has been long. Finals are looming. And on top of that, our second snow coincided with All The Events. Too much. So, it was a great surprise and joy to come home this afternoon to a package filled with beautifully wrapped gifts from melanir. (I thought the gift wrapping from Amazon was too gorgeous not to post). Inside, I found two very exciting books: I’ve been wanting to read Amitav Ghosh’s Sea of Poppies for a long time, as it’s a premiere Anglophone […]
HUZZAH for the Book Exchange and for Beth Ellen!
Beth Ellen is the best, most crazy generous Cannonball Book Exchange gift giver! Thank you so much for the Mary Berry book (to be combed through this weekend) and the books I’m sure I will like because you liked them, Beth. I shared some of the cookies with my guys and when I left the room my generosity was translated into them finishing the treats, those bastards! My gift came addressed to my Pajibanym and that NEVER GETS OLD!
Thank you, The Chancellor!
I am super excited to receive these three books — two recent favorites I didn’t own, and a third I’ve been dying to read — and am overwhelmed by your generosity! Thank you!
badkittyuno is a book sommelier!
A big thanks to badkittyuno, whose super power must be picking out the perfect book for someone! I am super excited with my gifts – Little Face by Sophie Hannah and A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness – I can’t even decide which one to read first!
Nasty women read! Thanks, crystalclear!!!
November was a wretched, ugly month. This morning, I decided to ring in December on a high note, and I played Christmas music all.day.long. That helped. And then, I got home after a lovely post-work dinner with a good friend to a package laden with goodies from crystalclear: She gave me (from left to right) an adorable Beanie Baby tiger (how did you know stuffed animals were a total weakness of mine???), with the note, “In case things get sad,” Octavia E. Butler’s Kindred, Penelope […]
And scary ghosts stories from Christmases long, long ago!
A HUGE thank you to Nate Haas for my wonderful books! He not only picked great reads for me (the Atkinson in particular I’ve wanted my hands on for ages), but included a super cute magnet and Oscar Wilde quotation card. And Nate – the haiku you wrote was adorable, not offensive – it takes a lot more than that to make me uncomfortable! 🙂
