Cover of Cate C. Wells’ Ravaged Wolf

Cate C. Wells can get me to read and appreciate fated mates like no other author

Ravaged Wolf by Cate C. Wells

First off, if you are considering a place to start with Cate C. Wells, this is not the book. Ravaged Wolf is the book you read when you know the world and trust the author. I read it backwards before I could read it front to back. For want of a better way to explain: Izzy In my pack, I’m a cautionary tale, the female who made her mate wait too long and drove him into rut. After that terrible night, Trevor was exiled, and […]

When we first meet Jo-Beth Connoly, aka Plum, she’s at work. Adam Wade is watching her give his step brother and business partner a blow job in a private room at The White Van, a strip club run by the Steel Bones Motorcycle Club. Adam’s brother tries to short Plum on money and a fight ensues. Adam gives Plum more money than she’s owed to settle the issue. Plum is concerned Adam may think they have some sort of pay in advance thing going. Adam […]

The Wild Wolf’s Rejected Mate by Cate C. Wells

January 4, 2025 by Emmalita 4 Comments

I have been a somewhat ambivalent reader of Cate C. Wells’ Five Packs series. I don’t generally enjoy omegaverse or fated mates, I particularly don’t love rejected mates. But, I always enjoy Wells’ writing and I have appreciated the way she moves the Five Packs world from dismissive/abusive towards women to somewhat more equitable. It’s still a society with built in inequality and the pack members rights are only as strong as the alpha is willing to grant and enforce. There is quite a bit […]

Why is saying no my Kryptonite? Why is saying yes just as hard?

After the Shut Up Ring by Cate C. Wells

May 18, 2024 by Emmalita Leave a Comment

After the Shut Up Ring starts with a banger of a first chapter – Angie’s almost husband reads wedding vows designed to humiliate her in front of their two young daughters and everyone they know. He even gets his groomsmen and the officiant (one of his best friends who got ordained on line) in on the act. After years of making excuses and trying to make it work, Angie says no. She sees the vows are being filmed, looks at her daughters, and refuses. In […]

Run Posy Run by Cate C Wells

I have come to accept that there is no trope I won’t read if written by the right author. I don’t love dark romance and I don’t love mafia romance, but I can’t say I won’t read dark mafia romances, because I have read Run Posy Run multiple times. I’ll read mafia romances by Cate C. Wells and Katrina Jackson, and a few other writers. I first read this last year, but couldn’t figure out how to talk about it without sounding like I’m giving […]

What. Just. Happened.

Run Posy Run by Cate C. Wells

October 20, 2022 by katie71483 7 Comments

Run Posy Run by Cate C. Wells is perhaps the most unusual romance I’ve ever read. It is a dark Mafia romance available on Kindle Unlimited. I was having a video chat with Emmalita and of course our conversation turned to books for a while. She was recommending this author specifically for her writing, and then mentioned this book with a description that had me intrigued, puzzled and repulsed all at once. In addition, she said it was basically living rent free in her head, […]
