“When you are handed a gift, you do not squander it on insignificant dickheads.”

Best Knight Ever (Kinda Fairytale #4) by Cassandra Gannon

June 26, 2021 by Nart Leave a Comment

Yes, you’re going to have to get past the title and the cover, but I promise you, it’s worth it. Plot: Trystan, the gryphon we met in the Kingpin of Camelot, has been tasked with a mission – find Guinevere’s irritating best friend, who was banished some years ago for betraying King Uther (Arthur’s dad). Galahad is described as perfect in every way. He is kind and generous and brilliant and the best at literally everything he’s ever made any effort at, so it’s perhaps […]

“Sometimes the first family you get isn’t the right one.”

The Kingpin of Camelot by Cassandra Gannon

Yes, I’ve been hoovering this series. Do you like Arthurian legends? Do you want to figure out how a romance novelist wrote a book with Midas, the guy who can’t touch anyone, as a romantic lead? Of course you do. Plot: Guinevere Pendragon is deeply fucked. Her husband, Arthur, is dead, and a Scarecrow made out of vicious birds is trying to steal her kingdom and doing it pretty easily. Good thing she knows where to run – the only person in Camelot with enough […]

“‘Then, Avenant foreclosed on my shoe.’ – Testimony of Old Woman who (Formerly) Lived in a Shoe.”

A Beast in Shining Armor by Cassandra Gannon

The second in Gannon’s A Kinda Fairy Tale series. Folks who enjoy the archetypes (particular the more brooding, controlling heroes common in them) will definitely like this book better than the first in the series. Plot: Prince Avenant was  born Bad to Good parents who hated him. One of the biggest differences between people born Good and Bad is that Bad people recognise their True Love on sight, while Good people don’t (because otherwise the Baddies would probably accidentally kill them otherwise – oops!). Avenant […]

“Don’t worry. We’re about to cause some trouble.”

Wicked Ugly Bad by Cassandra Gannon

June 6, 2021 by Nart Leave a Comment

Fluffy paranormal urban fantasy? If you like the ideas in paranormal urban fantasy stories but are frustrated by the iffy (if existing) consent and soap-level angst that stalls out the action for chapters at a time, this book is a gift to you. You’re welcome. If you LOVE paranormal urban fantasy, the second book in the series will work better for you. Plot: In a kingdom far far away, Cinderella is about to marry her prince while her evil ugly stepsisters rot in an asylum […]
