Clothes Horse Meets Fashion Don’t

August 6, 2018 by Jen K Leave a Comment

Bingo Square: Brain Candy With this, I have now completed Loretta Chase’s Carsington Family series, even if I saved the first of the series for last!  This was another solid entry, though there is barely even a mention of Rupert in this novel beyond being lumped in as one of Alistair’s younger brothers (and the one with the grey horses). What can I say, Mr. Impossible remains my favorite of the series, and I am sure it has nothing to do with the fact that […]

They’re All Grown Up

July 30, 2018 by Jen K Leave a Comment

Peregrine and Olivia have known each other since they were children when his uncle and her mother fell in love in Lord Perfect.  Peregrine has spent most of that time in Egypt with Rupert (my favorite, be still my heart :p ) with only a few short trips home over the years.  As a result, Peregrine is rather surprised to discover that his dramatic, slightly awkward but lively friend has become the most beautiful woman in the room.  Olivia has always felt great affection towards […]

Animal Husbandry and Home Renovation

July 29, 2018 by Jen K Leave a Comment

This is the fourth of the Carsington Family novels, and focuses on the youngest and only remaining single brother, Darius.  His father challenges him to either take an old family estate that has finally been released from some legal restrictions and make it profitable within a year or settle down and marry a suitably well-dowered woman.  Darius considers himself the logical, unemotional brother though as the youngest, he also feels like there weren’t really many roles left to claim for himself.  While his father might […]

When the Eldest Son Lets Loose

July 11, 2018 by Jen K Leave a Comment

Lord Perfect is the third of The Carsington Family novels, and the one that immediately follows Mr. Impossible.  Benedict is the eldest of the brothers, the heir to the title, and the one who has always done everything right.  Even society refers to him as Lord Perfect.  He is widowed, and while his in-laws are on the dramatic side, he has kept up the relationship because of his nephew by marriage, 13-year-old Peregrine, whom he is has taken under his wing.  Peregrine has had issues […]

Could Someone Send This to Chris Hemsworth as a script?

June 14, 2018 by Jen K 10 Comments

I don’t usually visualize characters that specifically when reading, having vague ideas of “attractive man” in my head.  This novel, however, proved the exception, since I couldn’t help but see Rupert Carsington as Chris Hemsworth.  More specifically, Thor: Ragnarok Chris Hemsworth with a smidge of the huntsman from Winter’s War (because of the smirk).  Rupert is another one of Chase’s hellions, never one to shy away from a fight, someone who will help the weak, surprises other characters with the occasional tidbit of knowledge when […]
