On the other hand, I’m 100% positive I missed things, and the cleverness of this play almost entirely went over my head. All I could think of to […]

Book Club Discussion Post: The Real Inspector Hound

December 13, 2017 by faintingviolet 34 Comments

Are you ready for our final book club of the year? Well, ready or not here we go to cap off another year of reading and discussing together! The Real Inspector Hound is a quick, funny play where Tom Stoppard takes aim at theatre, critics, reality, and fate. While its one act zips by in 50 pages or less, it still manages to have opinions about our place in the world around us. Ground rules remain the same as before, discuss in the comments below, […]

This review is very late.

So now y’all know just exactly how far behind I am in my reviews. We read this book back in June? I think? Effff, I wish I would have written this review back then. I had so many thoughts!! Now, they are mostly all gone. GONE I TELL YOU, like piss in the wind. Sorry, that was vulgar. Sometimes I am vulgar. It should pass. But you know what, I’m feeling in the mood right now. I’m full of it. What you might call piss […]

The votes have been counted and Khaled Khalifa’s In Praise of Hatred will be our September #CannonBookClub read! I’ll be posting a Discussion Topics post two weeks before our discussion. As in previous Book Clubs, feel free to visit us here on the group blog for the dedicated post or in our Facebook Cannonball Read […]

Welcome to our second book club chat of the year: Life Moves Pretty Fast by Hadley Freeman. I’m so excited to talk the movies of the Eighties and this book with all of you! NiceGuy Ducky, she defends NiceGuyDucky ARGH

May 5, 2017 by melanir 3 Comments

This was not my first choice for the book club; in fact, it wasn’t my second or third choice either. I think I would have preferred any other of the book club choices to this one, however I was overruled and democracy blahblahblah. I honestly went into it with an open mind, I may not have looked forward to reading it, but hey, I was willing to give it a chance. I like 80s movies, maybe not to the extent that Freeman does but I […]
