It just keeps being awesome, you guys

September 29, 2015 by Malin 2 Comments

Saga is my favourite comic book of the last few years and I feel like I do nothing but spend my days waiting for a new trade paperback to come out. I managed to save volume five for an unprecedented nine days from buying it until I actually read it, because I know that it’ll probably be another six months at least until I get more. The writing is flawless, the art is breathtaking. The plot is never, even for a second, predictable. The six […]

Your Mileage May Vary

The Saga series takes place in a world where two factions are fighting each other in a never-ending galactic war. Though the fight started on a world and its moon, the conflict has spread to many other worlds and drawn in other species all over the galaxy. When two soldiers from opposite sides fall in love, desert their respective armies, and have a baby, both sides try to kill the parents and kidnap the baby. Marko and Alana make some narrow escapes and try desperately […]

Saga! Saga! Saga! Saga!

August 24, 2015 by bonnie Leave a Comment

Oh, now I’m sad. I’ve read all my Saga and now I have to wait until September. Like the rest of everybody. That’s the problem with really loving something in the moment—you catch up and you can’t binge read/watch it. Blargh. Volume 4 takes place a few years after the events of the third. By now, Hazel is an adorable toddler, though her narrative voice is still that of a much older individual. Both Alana and Marko are trying to figure out how to make […]

SAGA x3!!!

August 24, 2015 by bonnie Leave a Comment

I can’t imagine how torturous it must have been to read Saga as the issues and volumes were released. Volume 2 ended on a cliffhanger (I won’t say what it was, obviously), so I was very grateful to have Volumes 1-4 on my hands right away. You’ll want to read Volume 3 quickly after Volume 2, that’s all I’m saying. Again, in her irreverent style, Hazel narrates the text. But this time, the narration goes back and forth in time a little bit. Here, I […]

MOAR SAGA

August 24, 2015 by bonnie Leave a Comment

So, I definitely polished off the published volumes of Saga way too quickly. How could I help it? I’ve never read anything quite so compulsively readable and addicting! I think just about every graphic novel I read from here on out is going to be hampered by unfair comparisons to Saga. It’s pretty much the most perfect space opera I’ve ever read: adventure, gory action, romance, and deliciously dark humor. Side note: it’s going to be difficult to say a whole lot about Saga that […]

OMG SAGA!!!!! [that sums it up, yes?]

August 16, 2015 by bonnie 2 Comments

Two years ago, my sister loaned me issues of a comic she’d gotten into, Saga. “It’s really, really good. You’re going to love it.” I agreed, mostly to get her to stop talking about it. One thing led to another, and somehow, I kept putting it off. The Chancellor read several issues and agreed with my sister. And still…I kept forgetting to read it. But then, she came over last weekend, and I decided that I needed to give her back her comics, but I’d […]
